fellow JT owners ,

I have a 21 JTMT , I re-geared from the 3.73 to the 4.88 ‘s about 20k ago . Since the re-gear was done , my back up camera will generally only work on the first back up of the drive . If I shift into like 2-3rd gears and later try and put it in reverse , the back up camera won’t work . If I shut off the Jeep and start it up, it will work fine -additionally , the auto start light has been stuck “on “. Any ideas on how to resolve this issues ??? Appreciate the input

I assume you changed the gears in the truck's settings using tazer, jscan or AlfaOBD?
Not that it should matter - but is it a Sport or Overland - just for reference, etc.?
How's the voltage when running and when stopped? (just covering bases)
Any other changes made?

My backup camera issues ended up being a poor connection where the wiring exits under the truck bed to go into the tailgate. Odd that it started when I first used my snow plow and dropped the system voltage really low running the plow to purge air at idle - kicking system voltage down to about 10 or so - at first I thought that was it until I resolved it by working with the connection near the tailgate.

Hmm random place to look…tailgate wiring have an intermittent ground? Those wires are just out there to get folded crushed and just generally flexed over and over.

Other than that reverse switch. The way these computers wrk… it gets bad data it just stops listening.

It's the connector where the problem most often is - it's a known thing.
May or may not be the case here, but a number of us have dealt with the connector at the back of the bed floor. The wires should last forever - or at least a very very long time. They won't get flexed nearly as much as the wires between chassis and driver door and those hold up.

Are you using a Tazer? If so, the process to get everything to work correctly is slightly different than it is with an automatic transmission. I had the issue you mention after re-gearing my Gladiator with the MT.

You’ll need to do the steps described here: https://www.zautomotive.com/zpu/instructions/jlm6relearn.pdf

The big thing is, does the screen change to the camera but it's black, or does the radio just not pull up the camera at all?
