True. I also had the 7" UConnect in this truck initially. The previous trucks had the larger 8.4". You're right about the Stinger being a HUGE upgrade over the 7" radio. Just the usability of the larger screen and the better OS itself was worth the upgrade. It always bothered me that the icons along the bottom of the screen are not available when using the 7" radio with AA/CarPlay. Annoyed me every time I had to get back to the UConnect screen to switch to SiriusXM or local radio AND have maps running. The headunit is the one thing in the cabin that gets used literally every single time I am in the driver's seat. I figured it wasn't worth skimping on that. I just wanted it to look as factory as possible. The 8.4 is night and day above the 7"..........
That said, the sound quality is definitely better as well. But......if I am being honest, the single largest contributing factor for improving the clarity of the sound when the hardtop and doors are off (as it has been pretty much all summer) were adding the Kicker HS-10 behind the rear seat and a couple Kenwood Excelon dash speakers. That took maybe an hour and a half total. I had initially planned on replacing the sound bar speakers and the speakers near your knees, but after those went in....I realized that it really wasn't worth the expense or effort.
Shameless edit: Here is a completely unrelated image from the lake today.
