I finally saw one of these at a local dealer. I've been looking at these since the original company brought them out but at the time they did not have one for Gladiator. I kept asking them to make one. They were a blind company and a larger company bought them out of MIssouri and built one that will work with a Gladiator.
The guy had two sizes with one for a Gladiator at 3,000 bucks with the mounting kit. I remember at first about three/four years ago they were as low as 1900. But... So anyway. it is 47.5 inches wide 79 inches long and fits in the back of a Gladiator. You have to use the places for the boards on top of the wheel well and front and back along with a cut 4x79 piece of plywood to make a flat platform but that can also be adapted as storage underneath I'm thinking. It is light enough two people can pick up and move. You need to get some straps to lock it into the back. It is basically a thick piece of insulation with a Rhino liner spray on the outside. I think you could do it for 3300 full retail and some wood from a big box store. You do have to leave the rear down.
So it's 79 inches long and 47.5 on the inside for the gladiator version. Kinda tight for two adults, but you could sleep two. BUT, if you live in a mountain state, or not, This will do the trick weekends in the woods... Surprisingly warm and big enough inside but it is an insulation box. Two people and/or a dog and you could sleep easy down into the teens 20's no other heat source. They are easy to adapt if you want to add like electrical or solar or cut a hole for whatever. AND so light, no problem moving/storing.
I also own one of these four by five trailers with highway running gear https://www.lowes.com/pd/Carry-On-Trailer-3-5-ft-x-5-ft-Wire-Mesh-Utility-Trailer/5002063461 Not sold now, but at 199 about eight years ago, a steal. And It is perfect for light off roading as in National Forest roads. I've seen people (videos) turn the axle on these also making overlanders. But with this set up using the trailer for your gear, in my case you are ready to go. You might even be able to put it in the trailer at four feet wide and a 19 inch off the back support. Not sure though. But used small trailers can be had relatively inexpensive and most of them you can flip the axle. So you could buy one for the larger Freedom Camper as an approach also.
BUT, irrespective, its a very inexpensive way to overland off road with a bit of a hardside aspect. They make the small one and it will fit in any of the small pick ups. Perfect for one or two people and/or a dog who like roughing it. It's suprisingly practical and nice. I'd sure prefer that first price I saw a few years ago, but my dealer is a used car dealer. If it doesn't move I could probably get a better deal.
AND for a semi hardside camper for overlanding, 3300 all in is NOT bad at all these days...
