I have a very nicely modded 2014 JKUR lifted, gears, rims and tires and even manual locking hubs. Came loaded from the factory, heated leather seats and all.
But,,,, with my 120 pound Bernese Mtn dog trying to overland and camp with it is just not working well for me. Thinking a fully loaded Gladiator would be better. A shell camper for bad weather and removing the back seat for the Berner. I don't really do boldering like Rubicon Trail so the JT will be more than able. Sadly I am reading about many issues, leaking rear axle seals, front locker issues, some shifter and other electric problems. So just wondering if it's worth the change. To have something new is nice but not if it's got issues. At 70 years I don't want to wait many more years to enjoy something new. I'll do some mods but not like I did with the JKUR.

I say go for it. Remember you're seeing a selection bias from a group of Gladiator owners. Most are probably about as trouble free as most new cars. No mechanical issues on mine.

So if you've been reading, then you know that on the first couple years they had some bad batches that have been fixed under warranty . Longevity of the gladiators hard to tell but we have members who have over 100,000 mi on their vehicles without any issues.

The Jk is just as likely to have issues as as the JT /JL platform or for that matter any other newer vehicle . Yours could have been relatively trouble free and that's awesome , so could the JT . It's a roll of the dice , but I wouldn't let that stop me at age 70. I have had 2 JL and a JT . Pretty happy this far .

Thanks for the positive vibes. I figure it's basically a JLU with a bed. Some differences in the axles, heavier. I pretty much know how I want it:
White
Rubicon
Leather & LEDs
Painted roof and fenders
Remote start and keyless entry would be nice.
I'll do my own bumpers and a small Mopar lift perhaps 35's in the future. A ARE shell.
The real issues are the ones that cause many dealership visits or can't be found and fixed.

Depending on how handy and willing you are you can add remote entry pretty cheaply. Think it was sub-$200 doing just the driver side.

I feel you on the repairs under warranty that the dealer can't fix due to lack of parts , help , or knowledge.... That's a jagged pill when you buy a new rig.

Love the remote entry with the Ram. Remote start is great to keep it safe and cool for the pup.
Anyone here go from a nice JKU to a JT and why?
