Never a fender (they're painted, nothing sits on paint, that's the rule in my house). But I left a full can of Monster Khaotic on the back bumper once. Get a mile down the road and reach down to take a swig that I was so looking forward to. Son of a...

Work gloves and a tobacco pipe. I don't smoke in the truck so I just throw my pipe (and filthy clothes etc.) in the bed as to not stink up the cab. Well, I was working in front of the truck, set them on the fender grabbed my coffee and drove away. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the gloves go, stopped and grabbed them but the pipe is lost.

So far so good (knocks on wood). However, I have a had a couple good ones and should have firmly learned my lesson by now.

A couple years ago I was picking up my son from daycare. I drove a Honda Accord with Yakima crossbars on the roof. I had set his small cooler for lunch on the roof and completely forgot about it after buckling him up. I was going 70 mph down the freeway and started to wonder why so many cars were flashing their lights at me. I wasn't going too slow. SUV pulls up next to me and the driver starts pointing up at his ceiling and mouthing something to me. I had gone a good 10-12 miles with the cooler sitting on top of the Honda, held in place with luck and the crossbar.

Not so lucky - I was in 7th grade and we had a math teacher who thought they were an art teacher. We had to make something called a "great stellated dodecahedron" (google it) out of colored paper, so that each face was the right color and there were no gaps in it. I spent weeks tracing, cutting, and gluing to finish it. I even had it done early. Somehow it got placed on the roof of our car and we took off to school. I realized it wasn't there within ~.5 miles but when we turned around it was nowhere to be found. I mean nowhere, I looked for a good hour. Had to get my mom to explain what happened to the teacher and he was like "ok, he's got 1 extra week to make another one"
