I have had both a full rack and half rack, starting with the full rack and now happier with the half rack although my RTT is a two-person that fits over the bed without hanging over (torro off-road bantam rtt). I prefer the half rack although the RTT size may be the biggest issue for OP.

Pros of half rack:
  • lower center of gravity, so better cornering on road
  • can park it my garage
  • seems more stable when using the tent - vehicle moves less when moving around
Cons of half rack:
  • less cargo space in the bed of the truck
  • 90% obstructed view through rear view mirror (I added a camera streaming mirror)
I would also add as a con - if you want an awning, you would have a rather short height under the awning with a half-height rack.

I like the idea of the half rack if going with an RTT. Little less wind resistance. If I went this route I would just use a tablet and rear view camera as my rear view mirror.
I was researching this today because I intend to go half rack. I found an option from FullVue but I haven't done much to find reviews or installs yet. They have Jeep specific solutions but they also have products with forward facing dash cams that might be a nice add.

If you can get a wire that'll take this camera all the way to the back of a half rack (it looks like Rebel Off Road and TrailRax have great mounting spots) the vision issue goes away.

Have you looked at the Road Armor Rack. It is adjustable and offers 3 different heights with a single rack...
