Trailer hitch dysphoria resolved,
I settled on a 2-inch ball
mounted to a draw bar with a 3-inch drop.
For a bone stock Gladiator Rubicon
this places the ball 18 inches high
which is suitable for the Garbage Commander,
my old utility trailer
and any U-Haul trailers I might rent.
This hitch from Lowe's has a stopper
that prevents the ball from turning.
Very handy.
The red rubber bump pad
is supposed to have something to do with hitching.
Not sure about that
but one can never have too much Rubicon Red.
Do yourself a favor when installing
or removing a ball.
Stab the drawbar in the receiver on it's side
right or left to attach or remove a ball
so the socket will stay on
while bearing down with your weight.
Good towing.
Also all balls are not made the same.
Check the neck with the Garbage Commander
to make sure the neck is small enough.
Some heavy duty balls have thicker necks.
