I have On X on my I Pad mini with a Bullet mount and it works OK but I am thinking of the Garmin Tread so I have it all without a cell service or downloading the area. The Garmin Tread looks like it has it all for what I need.

I had constant problems running a Dual puck with an IPad Pro, and frankly I see constant and worsening flakiness across the entire Apple line as of late. I’m not confident enough in that whole setup to trust it if I’m really far out there and truly need GPS. I’d rather use an imbedded system like Garmin. That being said the Tread is basically just an Android tablet. However the saving grace is that the updates come whitelisted/tested through Garmin and they’re responsible to their customers to not brick their devices built in capabilities through updates. Apple has no such requirements to one niche use case for an iPad.
