Ok there’s one way that might happen due to owners error, that involves “topping off” when you’re filling up, trying to round up to the next dollar amount, that can become a habit. But what that does is actually add so much gas the anti- evaporation system gets full of gas that could cause issues. There’s actually a warning in the owner’s manual in just about every vehicle on the market. This is only posted for information and not about shaming. Good luck!
Not topping off beyond letting the latched nozzle fill unattended until it automatically shuts off. This is the first vehicle I've ever owned where this is a problem.

And it's a small problem, to be honest.

It’s happened to me on several different vehicles. JKUR and Cobra. Thankfully not the JTM. I blame it partly on the pump but experience taught me to make sure that the nozzle points straight down so the gas doesn’t deflect off the sides. That seems to interfere with the shut off.

Mine has been doing this at a rate of about 75% on fillups since 2020. I just wipe it up with the gas station napkins at the pump if they are available. 124k miles later and no paint is gone yet.

My 2023 jt has been consistent with the same issue. My older jeeps had the same problem but I found out that it was a bad valve switch located just before the tank. The valve was there to allow airflow to prevent pressure building up. I honestly haven't looked into the JT to determine if it is the issue or even if it exists... gladiator only has 2k miles and I don't want to take in into dealer until they contact me about the dash recall, so until then, suck it up,buttercup.

I never top it off it happens when the gas nozzle clicks off.

My 23 JTR fills fine at normal pump speed, but burps at slow speed when nearly full. Not station/pumps specific.
My other vehicles don't burp at slow speed.

2023 with 9,000 miles.

Mine does this too. Dealer acts flabbergasted if I mention it. Like it’s the first time they’ve ever heard of such nonsense. I just lift the nozzle when close to the “click.”

Of course they also don’t hear
other obvious issues.
Dealership shop techs remind me of an old Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor movie called “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”

My guess is the angle of the filler neck is too shallow… so, a design flaw.

I haven't run into this issue (yet?), but I have felt like the Gladiator doesn't have a well designed filler receptacle. The nozzle doesn't go in far enough and never feels very secure to just leave it unattended.

Not related exactly, but kind of a funny story... I was filling my JL a few months ago and the nozzle kept clicking off and it sounded full of air while filling up...I had to just barely squeeze the trigger to keep it filling, painfully slow. The "lady" employee (with a 5 O'clock shadow) was standing next to me telling me that my garage-kept, never-parked-in-suspect-areas Jeep had been damaged by someone syphoning gas, which was causing the problem... and it wasn't the pump's fault at all. Amazingly, my "damaged" Jeep never encountered the problem before or since. If that isn't gaslighting, I don't know what is! (see what I did there?)

Not too far off topic, but is the little hook to hang the gas cap? It’s nearly useless if that’s the purpose.

Well, my first thought was welcome to the Jeep club. :like: I've had this happen on multiple vehicles and about all of my Jeeps. On the TJ's there is a "hack" to replace the fill hose with a different one, I've never done it on any. My 90XJ did it until I ended up switching fuel tanks. My Gladiator catches me on occasions too, normally it's at gas stations that are running higher than normal fuel filling levels that are full blast or totally off. The tank cannot vent out the air from tank fast enough.
As said by others the evaporation cannister part is a problem too.
