General Dash Cam Question

Hello Jeepsters, I searched the hell outta this and certainly I missed to info I seek. My apologies for a ReThread. I have 2022 Gladiator Sport. Plain Jane rearview mirror. No nothin. I am shopping dash cams. I abhor dangly wires!!!! Before I go taking things apart, does anyone know if there is a harness or pigtail in there under the stock mirror? Wire routing is no problem for me. Any wire cutting or splicing might be above my pay grade, BUT I could get help with that. I would appreciate any help with a slick, non obtrusive DC. Several friends have found their "value" in dealing with insurance issues. Most of the threads I could find were dated anyway. Whats the new cats meow???

There is a wiring harness. The question is whether it is installed on your model (sport). The good news is, is that you can run your own wires in the roll bar channel all the way around and then under the dash if need be,

I ran my cam wire under my dash, through to the top of my roll bar and through right down the roof trim. The only exposed wire is the 1" piece to the cam on the windshield

I would venture to guess that they used the same harness on all trim models, so you may have the plug for the full safety package header already in there.
If you have vanity lights on the visor mirrors there may be an exploitable power source there as well.

All of that seems complicated and risky when you can simply tuck the wire behind the edge of trim and get back down to a usb port on the dash or a power source behind the dash.

That makes things clear. By the way, Vantrue also has a trim tool in the box so that you can toddle the wires easily.
