Your brakes are more powerful than your engine. Period.

So something is not right. Either something electronic is making the brakes not function or . . well that is just about it. Every other scenario the brakes should able to easily overpower the engine.

If you are 110% sure that the brakes weren't soaking wet (when it may take a second for them to grab) and that you were in fact on the brake pedal (you'd be surprised at how often people mess it up) then you have some kind of an electric gremlin that is causing the brakes to release pressure like when the ABS is functioning.
Thanks

Agreed - even if the engine was at 2,000 rpm, you could stop with these brakes. They are very good.

I don't think anyone has asked yet - since all of these have a tach on the left side - what is the engine RPM when this happens? Does the engine drop back down to idle or even under 1,000 rpm?
Is there any chattering sound of the ABS working?
These things have crazy good brakes, IMO.

Thing we really need to know do have any idea what's going on -
Is the engine dropping back to idle? What's the tach read (RPM)?
Is your foot REALLY off the throttle?
If the engine isn't dropping back, putting the transmission in neutral should send the RPM jumping up high.
Hmmm, this is an automatic, isn't it? OR is it a manual and you don't have the clutch pushed all the way down?
Any rattling sound, chattering, to indicate ABS is going nuts?
Thanks. There was not rattling of the ABS brakes. I will however monitor the RPM's, ACC and look to see what gear the 8 speed transmission is in next time it happens. Thanks for all the great feedback.

Why would you want to disable adaptive cruise control?
Simply - don't use it.

If you are looking at the fuse panel key - there's likely no fuse there anyway, it's for a heavy-duty accessory, thus the HD ACC* and the N in the fuse value column

Because I watched (from the backseat) my daughter have the sudden acceleration experience listed in a few NHTSI reports for my year of Gladiator

hereā€˜s what my owners manual shows

I’m guessing emergency braking would also be disabled

Yes, HD ACC, not adaptive cruise control. ACCESSORY.
Mine has ACC but there is no fuse in the 50 spot because I don't have a heavy-duty ACCessory.
That's not for Adaptive Cruise Control-see below - I DO have ACC but my 50 spot is empty because I don't have a HD ACCessory.

I guess I've not seen a reported issues with sudden acceleration. Is there a TSB or recall or is it that the complaints on the web site don't understand that after you pull around that slow semi, it's going to accelerate again?
Some of the complaints on NHTSA are hilarious. But if this is real, it's not one I'm familiar with.
