Funny, I have a search opened in another tab so I could find the right fire extinguisher setup. Didnt want to regret a hasty choice.

I do IT stuff so I can buy Jeep stuff.
I agree, from the bean counters point of view a small market share of manuals isn't enough to do anything but the minimum and lawyer up at first sign of a lawsuit. I had the fantasy of a company standing behind it's product and fixing it. Oh well soon we'll just be riding the autonomous driven vehicles with D, N and R as our only gear selections.
You mean autonomous vehicles where you just say "go to the mall", "home James" or "go to the nearest Starbuck's" ..... you won't even get to pick D, N or R.....

The first recall was for a leaky hose on the master cylinder. The second was software and the third there is no fix yet. I got the first. Haven’t gotten the second because the third came out saying no fix. I’m at 69k so I may as well upgrade and solve the problem. And if the fire is 1000 degree metal wouldn’t that be class D and you need sand?

So they were part of a group I'm in here in Virginia. I feel bad for them the jeep and the trailer were part of thier business and now they have no jeep and can't work now because of the fire. Pretty sure it was caused by the clutch recall.

Possibly, but the first 2 were software only I believe. Of course, people will often get oil changes at the cheap places that won't check that type of stuff, so who knows. I kind of doubted from the beginning that a software change would actually fix the problem. I'm hopeful they are working on new hardware and finishing up with testing (just me hoping, probably will be let down)
All software could do is throttle back torque output. Only hardware can fix it now. Sad.
I've never known a clutch that could actually slip and heat under load - if it could do that, it's a really sick sad clutch. Imagine pulling a plow across a field and having the clutch slip. Imagine pulling 60,000 pounds of freight down the highway and having the clutch slip and get hot and the answer is - back off the throttle.
Once engaged, there should be no slippage at all. If there is, it's a weak clutch. That's the whole point - clamp the disk between a pressure plate and a flywheel face and hold it there tightly.
Obviously, people who designed this one were new to the purpose of a clutch.

Figure after a certain point, it's plastics, seat foam, floor mats and/or carpet, vinyls, grease, oil, gasoline, electrical if the battery isn't yet engulfed.
I have 5BC in my shop. If it goes beyond that, I bring out the buckets of kitty litter.
I know I could do better, but I also try to avoid the need for them in the first place.
Placed at the top and bottom of the stairs in my shop, along any possible escape route.
