EXACTLY: The Gladiator is not a rock crawler. You can add the lifts and some 40's and it will make a huge difference, but it is not built to replace the Wrangler. I plan on using the the Gladiator as the perfect Overland vehicle. Buying the Sport S with max towing, all terrain tires, rear lock, a two inch lift and some comforts. Can't wait.
Pretty much like thinkers . . . my exploits will be focussed on "over-landing" i.e.; getting to a fly fishing destination way off the beaten path - well not always "way off," but far enough so I'm not dealing with the party crowd, or RV revelers ! At 68, not into "Rock" (and Roll) crawling anything. I don't see the need to do a lift - even the Sport S has nearly an inch more than a JLU ! But, never say never !? Now upgrading the tires to 33"'s if not standard on the Sport S would be nice along with a "mild" lift to Rubi-standards via shocks / springs spacer scenario !? I haven't done enough research on specifics yet, but ICON, TERAFLEX and MOPAR are currently the "option-ires" ! Similarly, what I would do IF I decide to go with a 2020 Wrangler JLU Sport S, if just not liking what I see and touch and smell and test-drive in a Gladiator ! ?

I'll disagree with you on that boss man, maybe not as good on rocks as a JLUR, but I'm sure it'll make short work of most rocky obstacles. Casey's been taking it up some pretty gnarly stuff...

Also, I'll be sure to post pics whenever I get mine because I plan on doing this stuff ;)

(EDIT : Casey not Cassie)
Here's a Casey video:
