Awesome. Does the smart cap roof also sit flush with the cab roof? In other words putting the same rack on the top of the smart cap and cab roof would create a level surface between the 2?

SmartCaps are designed so that the tallest point of the cap is almost exactly (if not exactly) the same as the crown (or tallest point of the cab) of the truck they are designed to fit. There are slight variations in certain applications, but for the most part they will be level.

Just got back from my first dusty road trip with Smartcap. There is a lot dust inside cap!!
It appears the lower and sides of tailgate of the Gladiator is where it is coming from. I can see light through cracks in both places!
Should the positive pressure system of Smartcap still keep this type dust out?
maybe I need to put some rubber gasket material strategically around tailgate to minimize further dust into cap.

Yes, you'll probably want to find a way to close up those gaps. The Positive Pressure Air Vent has to be able to pressurize the interior of the bed/cap in order to keep the dust out.

John–

We have begun installing the new Dual Release Latches on all EVO Series caps being produced out of North America and expect to begin installing them on South Africa-produced caps (of which the Gladiator caps are) in Q2.
Once both factories are stocked with enough inventory to support Manufacturing, we plan to begin offering them in sets of 2 and 6 to retrofit SmartCaps that have our original style latches.
We will be notifying our Tribe email list when the new latches are available for purchase, so if you are not already a member, we encourage you to go to this link: https://www.na.rsismartcap.com/join-the-tribe and scroll down a little, then complete the info to join up.
Are the updated SmartCaps with the new latches shipping yet? BTW they can be opened from the inside now correct?

We are very close to releasing the new latches (that can be opened from inside the cap). If you signed up on our email list – The Tribe, you will get notified when they become available.

Signed up but don't think I received a confirm email or at least I don't recall.

Just purchased a used smartcap, loving it so far. It came with a full bin and the kitchen. The kitchen is the older style with the 2 burner stove-top, is it possible to purchase just the newer tray that holds a camp stove?

Were these ever released? I don't see any mention on the website or my email. I just spent a few nights sleeping in the bed. I was a bit nervous I would accidently lock myself in.

After two attempts through the warranty claim page on RSI's website I am now turning to the forum to bring light to a problem with my new EvoA. So, let me start with a backstory.

My first Smartcap was one of the very first EvoA for the shortbed Tacoma. It was the best addition to my overlanding rig and served me well without any issues. I mounted numerous recovery items and tools onto the gull-wing molle panels without ever having the doors sag from the addition. Of course I remained well below the published 25 pound weight restriction, so the doors fully opened hundreds of times and have never failed.

December 2024 I installed an EvoA on my new Jeep and was very happy with it until I added the first snatch strap (about three pounds) to the left gull-wing door and it sagged about 20%. I tried the right gull-wing and the same happened. My first thought was "WTF" is going on? The struts that support the glass rear gulll-wing support heavier glass and the molle window protection, but the side door struts won't handle the smallest of attachments. Like I states, I have had the same version on my Tacoma for YEARS and used under the harshest conditions and they have NEVER sagged. With the same load out as I had on the Tacoma the doors sag 50%!

21 December, two days after installation, I went to the warranty page and filed a claim. Last week I followed up with another claim. For a company to ghost a loyal customer who paid $4300 for the first and be a repeat customer who paid $4500 for the second Smartcap, you are creating a bad situation. I could've gone with Alu-Cab or any of the other bed cap makers, but I put my trust in you, RSI. Where is the customer service?

I left for deployment last week without any resolution to this month-long request for warranty service. Maybe something can be done to solve this while I'm in Africa?

Thanks for checking back in. Due to the increased demand for our caps, we do not have a definite timeline for when we will have enough stock to begin offering the new Dual Release Latches for retrofit purchase. As soon as both factories are stocked with enough inventory to support Manufacturing, we plan to offer them in sets of 2 and 6 for SmartCaps that have our original style latches.

HI Glenn–
First let us say that we so appreciate your brand loyalty, and in no way have we purposely not mishandled your warranty claim. We're sorry that for some reason we haven't been in touch with you, and will definitely work to make it right, and won't stop until it is.
One suggestion, before we go too far, please check your email SPAM filter, as often our Support Team emails get caught up in there.
If that is not the case, please send us a DM through this forum and we'll work to ensure your warranty claim is elevated and our team gets busy working to sort these issues for you.
Thanks again for reaching out. We look forward to making things right.
