21 gladiator having steering/alternator issue. When I turn the steering wheel at low rpm’s the engine will die. It starts back up easy but I feel it’s leading to something but not sure what. I’ve also noticed that the amp reading on the dash is lower than before under normal load. Any ideas
Gladiator is basically stock, reflex 1.5 level with 35 inch tires and upgraded stereo system

My 21 got both batteries within 3 months of each other ( starting 4 months ago) . Could be? May not be! Something to consider! ??????

How often do you drive the truck?

Is the 12.4v in the jeep with the batteries fully connected? If not, you need to check the open circuit voltage. I would pull each battery, fully charge them, then test them after letting them sit for 3 to 4 hours with the charger disconnected. If you don't let them sit for a while to allow the surface charge to dissipate, then you will get an artificially high reading. I might also test them after another hour or two to make sure they are not self-discharging without any load applied.

There is no amp reading.
There's voltage reading - what EXACTLY, is it reading? Details matter - sometimes a lot.

That's low.
They are not fully charged.

Charge each independently and go from there. Use a good AGM charger.
Like said - after charging and before connecting everything back up, check the voltage again.
Should be ~12.8 with no load/not connected.

On the other hand, I have operated my truck with at rest voltage being around 12.4 volts, with my snow plow mounted, and turned the wheels. The voltage takes a dump for a second or two then recovers. Even at an idle, the alternator should keep up.

Time for some REAL troubleshooting............ get those batteries charged with an AGM charger - it might takes all day to do it right, then watch the voltage on the dash as you drive. You should see the voltage run about 12.8 with foot on the gas or cruising, etc. and then when you let off, go down a hill or brake, it should jump up into the high 13s or so - then down again as you take off.
As you drive, the voltage will vary from roughly 12.8 to ~14.x with fully charged, 100% correctly charged, GOOD batteries.

How low does the voltage drop when you try to turn the wheels at an idle?

I tested the batteries disconnected inside the truck. So I will pull both and try the charging and checking you suggested.

when steering is turned it will drop quickly but it recovers just as quick. If it does stall it cranks right back up and dash reading will go back to 13.x to 14.x.

Thank you for all help and suggestions
