I recently had new gears installed and now I'm in my break in period. This morning, I decided to switch to 4Hi to give those gears some attention and noticed a grinding sound while turning. To be clear, this sound is only when turning so it has me scratching my head.

turnup the volume or listen with headphones and you will hear it as the video has a hard time picking it up, but I hear it plain as day when driving.

The shop that performed the install states that if the gears were bad, they would make a noise while going straight. My question is, what else could this be?

I think the lock collar ring on the FAD is slipping.

potentially. but the way the PDF reads, it sounds like this could happen in 2wd.

This is only in 4Hi. nevertheless, I am taking it back in today to have them listen. Ill report back when they say.

I posted the TSB PDF more the noise issue related to the FAD than the actual conditions the TSB mentioned.

I went through something similar of having a intermittent grinding whirled sound and all things pointed back to the FAD and that plastic locking collar engagement.

Only other thing I can think of that would grind like that when turning is if the spider gears are messed up.

cus your driving on concrete by the looks of it. does it make that noise on a loose surface that'll let the wheels slip?
