Groaning noise normal?

So I tried out the "offroad cruise control" the other day. Where you can select your speed in 4 low and just let it crawl. It it normal to make alot of noise. It's like the abs system and brakes are doing crazy things to keep it at that slow speed. Thanks for your help.
