Has anyone built their own cradle for removing their hardtop with an electric hoist? I want to build something and would love to see your ideas.

Not necessary, I’m not a big guy, 5’9, and was able to remove myself and place on a mat in a corner. It is awkward but only 50-60 lbs. with another person it’s real easy, my 15 year old son helped put back on. With my JK I used 2 cinch straps, one from front to back on either side of the top to eye hooks in the rafters , worked well and cost less than 5$.

I agree, it is not heavy. I got a brand new hoist from work, for free, so I figured I would try to make a cradle for it. I am leaning towards copying a J-Barr style system. Really just super curious to see what people have done. Thanks!

Also, unrelated, I have the same Liftmaster garage door opener as you, have you been able to get your Homelink to sync with it? Mine won’t.

Where do you attach the ratchet straps to the top?
I loop each strap front to back and then hook both ends to hook on hoist. the only thing touching the hardtop is the strap material. Let me know if you need more info.

i do to. Works great from the wall but terrible at sync. Let me correct that statement. It will only work on my wife’s phone but not a second so it sucks for me.

I just realized this is the gladiator forum. LOL I use this system for my JKU. I would think you could do the same for the gladiator but would have to run the strap under the top at the rear.
