Also, to clarify, the popping that I hear in 4 low or a cracking sound whatever it is has been like that since I bought the truck, even in stock form with no lift or anything done. It always had that sound.
I also have that and have had it since new. Maybe your sound is different, but I'm fairly confident mine is just the transition of momentum through the drivetrain between being on-power/coasting, probably associated with backlash of the ring and pinion (not sure if this one is audible) as well as the small amount of play in the transfer case gears. Other off-road vehicles I've driven or ridden in do it too sometimes - not all the time.
