I need some moral support! So I went to talk to a dealer at the end of June about purchasing a JT. So I did my homework and built a truck that I wanted through the jeep website. When I got there I handed the guy my printout and he asked me if I wanted it built from the factory with my name on the window sticker :like: my mind was blown because I never knew you could get something like this done even though I always wanted to be able to do it. So we talked numbers and I felt like it was a decent price and told him I need to think about it. On July 5th (I know this date because I looked back at my first email with him)I told him I'm ready and to order my truck. Of course I was looking at the 2020 builds not realizing that they just ended  and he couldn't order 2020 anymore so I said that's ok I'd prefer a 2021. So for the last almost 2 months and several different build specs, he's been trying to order my truck and today he tells me all sport trim levels are on restriction! I want a Hydro blue sport s max tow with all the bells and whistles. My second choice would be a Hydro blue Mojave but I can't do without the adaptive cruise and some other features so I feel like I would get more feature for less with the max tow. I've always wanted a midsize truck to tow a TT and I've always loved jeeps so it was a no brainer when the JT got introduced. The whole point of the truck would be to tow and I would fear settling for the Mojave would be bad later on plus I don't plan on going desert running here in upstate NY. So I guess I will keep waiting and bugging my salesman every week until my truck can be ordered. Not sure what will be worse, the wait to order or the wait for it to be delivered. :headbang:

PS: this forum has helped my addiction and also made it worse. I WANT (to order) MY TRUCK!:jk:

I thought it was cool when the window sticker that came with mine said it was built especially for me - or similar words. Yeah, it's got my name on it. Pretty cool
Hydro blue Overland almost fully loaded but we missed the proximity locks...... bummer, but still like the truck.

proximity locks is one of the things I really wanted, asked him to see if they could put it in the notes to be added. If it does that would be great, if not there is a thread on how to install them and it doesn't seem to hard to do.

Locate one equipped they way you want, cut a deal, and go get it. If you need a name on your window sticker, print in on yourself.

As I recall, that wasn't an option for the Sport - only Overland up.
The locks don't seem that difficult to do save for the wiring harness that has to be run through the truck left to right up under the dash - it's not a small harness of 2 or 3 wires, then you have to find a dealer who will call in and get the code.
Can be done - and if the guy that did it would offer a kit, I'd probably buy it from him.
It would be easier than trying to go through trying to find the parts - this is Iowa, you can't buy anything here but local beers and wines.

I have never once found a vehicle on a lot equipped the way I wanted. Not ever. Every time I buy, we have to compromise or add something or whatever. Even the one I got - nothing existed the way I wanted it - they did a search for several states around.

I had a hard time ordering my So ort S as well. One dealer still hasn’t been able to give me proper pricing. Yet another dealer After a few weeks gave me numbers and ordered it. I have a vin# now so that’s a start I guess. Now I need to find out about getting my name on the window sticker.

Dealers only tell you about search results with dealers they trade with. I can't tell you how many times I did my own search that came up with units not identified by a dealer because they did not trade with the dealer that had a vehicle equipped they way I wanted.

last week he said one of his contacts told him there's a shortage on the 3.6L
There’s probably a shortage of 3.6Ls because they are replacing the ones that are jacked up on the current JTs with bad cylinders causing multiple misfires and ASS lamps.

Did that too - before going to the dealers. I was hoping their searches would be more accurate.
Even this time I did searches for a new Jeep for my wife - nothing, no one, not through any site, Jeep dot com, nothing. They were maybe close, off by a couple of things - usually color because most dealers only stock black, white, red and silver or gray
I spent 2 evenings doing searches either for a Wrangler for her, or another Grand Cherokee. Not a single match, I even changed locations so I'd get to other states.

In short - already did that as I figured the dealer search would be more accurate, but only if they would trade with the other dealer(s).
Again, we had to end up ordering.

That was a thought I had - shortage due to the virus (Mexico is hit really hard) and then due to the issues they are having with the JT version.
