Hello,
I have a 2020 gladiator rubicon with the rubicon express 2.5” lift.
I have heard a loud knocking noise under the passenger front wheel well over the past 2 weeks. The noise primary occurs when I hit a hole / obstacle that abruptly drops the front right tire down. I’m talking a small pot hole. Nothing giant. A 3” drop or less makes this knocking noise If I hit a bump that forces that tire up, no knocking.
I checked the drag link, tire rod and steering stabilizer and they all move as they should when turning the wheels. However, if I grip those steering parts and twist I can see a VERY minor amount of movement at the connection points on both sides of the tie rod and where where the drag link connects to the steering assembly. So I tried to tighten everything up a bit but I read it’s not good to over tighten the bots above the black sleeves.
in the attached picture, the bolts I circled in red are the ones I tightened. Maybe a quarter turn. The black sleeves I circled in yellow are where the movement/ noise is coming from when I twist the drag link / tie rod.
Now the knocking noise I hear is much louder than I can produce from twisting with my hands but I’m wondering if these should be this loose - should there be any movement in those sleeves at all? And I’m hoping someone has had a similar knocking sound I’m describing and can help me solve this issue before going to my dealer.
The noise does not come from the the driver side ever.
thank you in advance for any help! I hope this wasn’t to vague.
