Imposter Wheel Covers

My 2020 came with excellent thread wild peak 285/70r17 on the stock wheels. Needless to say, as much as I want to upgrade the wheel and tire package, I’ve opted to run these until next spring/summer as their value on the resale market is negligible either way.

I opted to give these imposter wheel covers a shot as a temporally change. I ordered up some silver Willy’s decals to put on the covers to try to come close to replicating the factory look. Here are the results.. the covers were 89.99 (79.99 with 10 off 50 coupon you get on their site) on autozone.com, 4 bucks on eBay for the stickers and the center caps I had laying around but comparable sets are around 14-17 on Amazon. I know I could have painted them for less but with the wheel covers I could paint or plastidip them whatever color I want at any time.

The stickers are a tad bigger than oem but I went with it anyway.

They look nice. i owned a 2007 BMW 328i. I had non OEM steel wheels for my winter tires. They were getting rusty so I bought some BMW hubcaps to cover up the ugly rims. I put them on and headed out for a test run. i hit 40 mph and all 4 hubcaps spun off and went airborne. It was rush hour and I thought I was going to decapitate someone.

I put them on eBay the next day. Some guy bought them. Turns out he sold them to the guy I bought them from. When he messaged me to ask why I was selling the, I told him they didn’t look good on my car. He bought them for 50% less than what he sold them for two months earlier. Turns out BMW hubcaps don’t fit on non OEM wheels.
