TBH, most videos I’ve watched sound like definitive metallic contact or a 70s or 80s MB diesel running. This pentastar sounds just like my last one. However, my brother came up this weekend and he was like, why does your engine sound that way? For reference, he has the 3.8 in his Wrangler. I think this sounds normal for a Pentastar, but I thought I would solicit other opinions. What do y’all think?

Probably, I don’t know where else to host it, as it says it’s too big for the forum.

Mine has always had a sort of sewing machine sound but no obvious metal clapping type sound. I’ve always wondered if that was the normal 3.6 sound but in YouTube videos with live sound they’ve sounded the same.
I did have to have my engine replaced at 15k due to metal contamination in the oil. I’m at 2k on this one and it has the “sewing machine” type sound too but not any blatant ticking.

Wow at 15k the engine was replaced because of metal contamination in the oil? How long did you wait to change the oil for the first time? No matter the brand, year or area I always drain/change the original break in oil and filter, by 4,000 miles with top grade full synthetic oil! With 5w-30 oil, Penzoil brand. Never have had any oil lube problems at all! My 2024 just turned over 2,400 miles and not down a drop as far as I can tell! But normally at 4,000 il change, or if it gets down a half quart I’ll change it then.

I used the Jeep wave oil change and followed all the user manual break in guidelines including oil changes every 5k. At 15k my CEL came on and upon inspection they found silicone blockage on the oil pickup line that was reducing oil flow to the top of the engine enough to cause the wear.
For the new engine I had the oil changed at 600 miles and will change again at 3k. After that I’m thinking I’ll go every 5k with Amsoil extended life.

I’m sorry. I haven’t forgotten about this. I still want to know what you guys think. I just have to find out how to get it on YouTube or something other hosting place. Work is going google free and I haven’t had the chance to mess with it while I was at home.
