There are two theories as to how current flows. Conventional Current assumes that current flows out of the positive terminal, through the circuit and into the negative terminal of the source. ... Electron Flow is what actually happens and electrons flow out of the negative terminal, through the circuit and into the positive terminal of the source.
Hole theory vs. electron theory. Yup.

Electrons hold a negative charge so if there's a build-up of electrons the charge is more negative than neutral. If there's a deficite of electrons, more "holes", there's a positive charge.
The hole theory is sort of like imagining the holes where electrons belong flowing - the positive chage flowing, while the particles themselves, the outer electrons from the atomic shell, is what moves, attracted to the lack of electrons on the other side.

Now to confuse things even more - spark plugs - that ground electrode is actually POSITIVELY charged IN COMPARISON to the center electrode.
It's easier for electrons to leave or jump from a hot surface than a cold surface. The center electrode runs a lot hotter than the shell's ground electrode, so in the case of the spark plug, the spark or ELECTRONS, the NEGATIVE side - is the CENTER electrode. The electrons jump from the center to the ground electrode - which is MORE positive than the highly negative center electrode.
The center electrode is much harder, resists erosion better as the electons leave.

If you've ever seen where someone hooks a coil up backwards......... the ground electrode will be worn or dished.

What was the question again? LOL
