My wife and I went to check it out last night, and we figured out why the windshield survived. Because the aux battery was dying/dead, the wipers started moving on their own when we hooked the jump pack up to the truck. They stopped moving in basically a fully upright position (you can see in the pics in the first post). They basically acted like really serendipitous bumpstops when the hood flew open.

I'll be curious if the wipers themselves still work fine, but either way, the windshield thanks them for their sacrifice... :CWL:
Oh man really bummed to hear this but I have to be honest, your 'wiper sacrifice' comment made me bust out laughing.....

Did the body shop happen to do a good look on the inside of the frame as well? I would expect them to remove trim and make sure there's no signs of that paint being cracked from damage to the frame. That would be my concern anyway.

Your battery issue probably is an indication of something bigger happening. Just my .02 since they're already dead and new. Curious why your taking it to a different shop.

Update: I was finally scheduled to get the hood, windshield frame, and fender flare fixed at a local body shop tomorrow. I went out to put my freedom panels back on, and guess what - it's dead again!

The new batteries that Jeep put in my truck are dead already, almost a month to the day later.

So now it's being towed to another dealership for yet another warranty battery replacement, and I'm going to miss my body shop appointment that I've been waiting weeks for.

This is getting old real fast.
Just out of curiosity, how long did it sit until you went to put the panels back in?
Maybe you said already and I didn't catch in a prior post............
Hopefully, the shop that installed the batteries fully charged them first (and reset the IBS while doing so - easy to do, just leave it off for 10-15 minutes)

Otherwise, if they were fully charged before install, and it's not been but a few days - that's a kick in the butt for sure.

Yea, I'm really starting to wonder wtf is going on. Nothing electrical changed recently at all. The first battery death after sitting in my garage for weeks I can understand. But I've driven it off and on since then, and had no issues. Suddenly today... why. The only non-factory draw I have would be from my dash cam, but 1) I've had that on for close to a year, and 2) it has built-in battery protection, and will shut off if it detects low amperage.

The tow is through Jeep Wave, and they said their system recommended another dealership nearby, so we went there. The one I went to last time is the place I bought it from, and they've rude, incompetent, unprofessional, and quite a few other choice words. So, if another dealership can fix the problem, I'm sure as hell not married to the other one.

It's honestly tough to say it sat. Maybe about a week or so? I usually only drive about once a week, but it's been that way for months now. It's odd that I'm just now seeing battery problems (if the sitting really is the problem).

Might want to rule that dash cam out - disconnect to see if it still causes the battery to die.

A week shouldn't be a problem. My wife has let her Grand Cherokees sit that long between drives.
It's not good for batteries but they should NOT be dead after a week.
And - what Gatorized said......
And - check this out (attached TSB/PDF)
