Brevity isn't my strong suit, so apologies in advance for the wall of text...
Over the past couple weeks, I've slowly been working on installing the AEV 2" spacer lift on my Mojave in my garage. (I work full time, so I really only had a couple hours here and there to work on it, hence the extended timeframe.) I had my Gladiator in my garage to do the rear spacers first, then when I had that done (after about a week or so), I backed it out and turned it around to work on the front.
Just yesterday, I managed to get the finishing touches on everything, and torqued all the hardware down, torque stripe and all. I go to start it... nothing. All signs point to a dead battery. I figure it's no biggie, and my wife pulls her Wrangler up to give me a jump. The dash lights up, but the starter won't turn over. I just get the usual random assortment of crap that works when your battery is low (wipers moving slowly without being asked to, clicking from the solenoid under the hood, error chimes, etc).
Thankfully it's still under warranty, so I called Jeep Wave, and they set me up with a tow truck to come take it to the local dealership to have it looked at. The tow truck driver showed up with a jump kit, and managed to get it running. He disconnected the jumper, and the truck died almost immediately. So we both agreed to jump it again, then to get it out of the driveway as quick as we could. He advised me he was going to leave the jump kit attached while I rolled out of the driveway, and he just slowly lowered the hood onto it - no problem. I lined the truck up to the back of his tow bed, and he said he would take it from there.
A few hours later, my phone starts blowing up. I don't know exactly what happened yet, but I am assuming he just up and forgot to take the jump kit out from the hood, or he just didn't latch the hood while driving 70mph on an interstate. Either way, the hood went flying backwards and well, the pictures speak for themselves...
The manager of the company spoke with me, and he assured me he will cover everything it costs to repair it, and he was very up-front and professional about everything. I'm just cracking up inside because, through all this, somehow the f*cking windshield still survived...
