Ok. Been a while since I last posted. A lot has changed since my trip to Rausch Creek.
I've installed the Rebel Half Rack, the Overland Vehicle Systems Nomedic 3 tent, the tuff stuff changing room, the dobinsons 8x9.8 ft awning, the JCR short roof rack, Artec front lower control arm skids, and rear antirock swaybar.
On labor day weekend I camped in Pennsylvania, Vermont, West Virginia and Virginia, and hit the BoH trails in New Hampshire and West Virginia.
I started my move back to Texas hitting Uwharrie NF (and camping), part of the Chattahoochee NF, and Stoney Lonesome OHV park.
Then took my family to the beach on Mustang Island.
Next trip planned will be camping at Hidden Falls in early November.

Man, I'm so jealous of you, Nathan! You live half way across the country and have been to more trails close to me in a year than I've been in my life!

Perks of being a geobachelor.
If you're ever in Texas let me know. I'll try to take you to our parks.

No offense, but reading through your thread and getting to the bottom of page 2, I was wondering where the "overland" portion of the build was being represented. It looked like a great trail rig, and I know everyone has different definitions, but I was waiting to see the kind of self-sustained travel piece of the pie that is more or less synonymous with overland. Honestly, my overland build is kind of in the same phase: Majority of the support components are in place, but it just doesn't *look* overland yet because I'm still waiting for some important components to get in.

Then I turned to page 3 and BAM. Killer photo gallery with some serious upgrades, ready for a cross-country off grid trip. It looks like that rig is really getting put to use. I finally have my core overland components coming in by the end of November (camper shell and roof racks, with my new tent arriving tomorrow), so I can't wait to get out and do some fall/winter camping and exploring myself.

Keep it coming!

I'm hoping to make it to the HF trip, Nathan! My JTR diesel should be here this week or next, and the Rebel rack is on the way!

I have a philosophy when it comes to building my Jeeps. I always start with recovery, armor, followed by lift/tires, and any additional beef I need. Then "luxury" item, like tent lgihting, awenings etc. Id rather have a built jeep that can get me home more than a comfortable bed. So once I completed the major upgrades I had the money/time to dot the "Overlandy" stuff. Unfortunatle/fortunately it's never over. My next add ons are a set of rear chomoly axels shafts and HD ball joints to improve reliabiltiy (especially with all the extra weight, and swithing out the springs to 4.5 in springs. That will mean that when my current tires run out I'll "NEED" bigger tires (looking at 39"s), which will then lead to my saving for bigger axles.
I can't choose just one. I love to camp and hit nice "overlandy" trails, but I also loive to crawl. So I must build my Jeep for both ( and to survive the texas hurricanes and floods).

Let me know when it comes in! I really hope you can make the HF run. It's been too long since we wheeled together. I'm considering inviting the LOST guys to a MLK weekend Big Bend trip. Would that be something you'd be interested in?
