That's why I just roll 70 or 75 and let it pull down to 65 on the hills😂 that way I go from 8th to 7th sometimes to 6th and then right back on to 7th and 8th
I almost NEVER see 8th when towing (but then again, I'm not going over 65 MPH on purpose, have seen close to 70 MPH when passing someone, then it's back to the right lane and 65 MPH). The only time I see 8th is on a flat or slight downgrade. But, 99.9% of the time, it's 7th at 65 MPH.

What model do you have ? Mine is a 2021 Rubicon with 4.10s on 35's. Mines in 7th and 8th alot. I can be on a long flat place in 8th going 65-70 start pulling the hill and it will pull a f100 yards or so then drop to 7th pull a couple 100 yards and then 6th. 🤔 the only time mine does fifth on the highway there is a road I travel that as soon as I reach the highway it starts into an immediate climb probably 6-8% and it will get 5th before I get about half way up it. It's probably 3/4 or a mile long. Then tops out and it will shift 6th and 7th as I am cresting and soon as it starts to break over into 8th again.

I have a stone stock Overland (ordered 5/19, built 6/19, delivered 7/19).

Yeah, manual shifting. In 7th, cruising at 65 MPH, when going up a grade, when my speed hits around 58 MPH, I'll drop back to 6th (2,600-2,800 RPMs) until either I get back to 65 MPH, or I've crested the hill then it's back to 7th. I'm running in 7th at around 2,100 RPMs at 65 MPH.

Overland comes standard with 3.73's I think correct me if I am wrong. Rubicon, Max tow, Mojave came with 4.10's as standard option. I usually keep mine in D unless I am driving slow and need to keep RPM's up for a steep pull. Change the gearing and you will see a world of difference. IMHO

@Labswine as you said stock. Are you still sporting stock sized tires?

I pull a Casita and I generally get 13-15 mpg driving keeping it at around 70mph. Transmission generally stays in 7th gear. One trip I got 11 but I was going 75-85 mph. Everyone is spot on with speed, take your time.
