Has anyone been able to confirm towing capacity and payload for the diesel Gladiator? I believe there is an unconfirmed rumor of 6,000lbs towing, but I'm more concerned about payload. And more importantly, what's the payload on the various trims? I had a dealer tell me payload is "around 1,500lbs" and would be on the Rubicon with 4.10 axle. A diesel Rubicon is out of my price range and the dealer didn't sound convinced of their own information anyway.

Has anyone else had better luck obtaining payload figures for the various trims? I'm hoping that like the gas V6, there is a Sport S trim that can be available with the highest amount of towing and payload. I don't think the Max Tow package applies to the diesel, but I could be wrong.

TFL says 6k per FCA "contact" but I am waiting for the official number since nobody in the auto press is repeating that number. They have a hit or miss history with some of their details and if it really is 6K and that has not been officially released they may have pissed off FCA just like they did by publishing Bronco details early (or FCA knows this and fed them incorrect data to see if they would publish, Who knows?). Nothing mentioned in the press releases officially so far (see link below). The only numbers that are published are the GVWR that shows up in the order guide. The problem is without the curb weight you can only estimate the payload. I used the 412lb difference between the V6 and Diesel Wrangler and my estimate is around 1050 for a Rubicon but I am not sure if that is right given the differences in axles (weight) between the wrangler and gladiator by trim level. The only true number is what shows up on the scale.

You are correct per the order guide, max tow is Gas only but you get the heavier drive-train with the diesel anyway. None of them have 4:10 with the diesel. Your dealer needs to take a closer look at the latest order guide. The details are there.

Here is the link to the press releases if you want to keep an eye out: https://media.fcanorthamerica.com/newsroom.do?id=430&mid=1015

Also this site is reporting 7650 (guessing sport) so like I said it is a crap shoot until the official numbers come out. https://www.carindigo.com/news/2021...atures-towing-capacity-performance-and-rivals

An ED Ram is about 375lb heavier than a Pentastar. The ED Gladiator is getting an increased GVW, but not enough to make up all the payload.

Has anyone been able to actually confirm the towing and payload specs of the Ecodiesel JT? It has me not the fence and afraid to pull the trigger on ordering and sacrificing too much loss.

Just tell your helpful sales rep that you’ll be waiting until they can give you proper official information.
