So I'm wanting to run my turn signals as DRLs as soon as I figure out which Led bulbs I need to make this happen. I got the JScan and saw the option was available to do this. My question is do I need a led switchback bulb to make this happen or regular led bulb. I have the Max tow package so I have DRL already and Two bulbs, one for the DRL and another for the turn signals.

Who's done it and who's got pictures.

I have no experience with switchback bulbs but user jludave over on the JL forum has done what you are trying to do, look him up over there.

I checked it out but it really doesn't answer my question about which bulb I need. I already have factory DRLs because I got Max tow on mine, I'm trying to figure out if I enable the turn signal as a DRL and use a regular Led bulbs if it will work as a DRL. I also want it to burn white when on DRL. I think I might need the switchback so it will be Amber on Turn signal and white on DRL. I know it can be done because someone else did it with Halogen bulb but said it melted their housing some. I also am wondering if I enable the turns as a DRL will my other DRL still come on as well. I'm trying to get both bulbs to come on and burn as a DRL at the same time.

I can’t speak of the LEDs but this is exactly what I did with my Sport S. I have a flashcal and turned my DRLs on and assigned the fender lights as the location. I love it. I’m in my 40s so us older people use to run around with our “driving lights” on before dark to look cool. Well, at least I think I looked cool. LOL I’m sure you can add those to the DRL location w/o switchbacks.

I'm in my 40's as wells so I feel ya:CWL:

I already have DRLs in fender, my JT came with them already installed but not the turn signal. There is a option to allow the turn signal to come on as a DRL and burn with JScan. I just want the bulb to be Amber when the signals on and burn white when not. I also want my regular DRLs to operate with this so the whole housing is lit up instead of just the right coners if that makes sense. I think to achieve this I will need Switchbacks because I don't think a regular Led bulb that's white will turn amber, I think it will blink but stay white. I could be wrong.

Oh yeah sorry I miss read your post about already having the fender lights as DRLs. I see what your talking about now but I am not sure what you will need to accomplish your goal. Good luck, I’m sure someone on here will have a good answer for you soon.

I believe the DRL and turn signal bulbs are separate bulbs in the fender. I would think you need to swap the amber turn signal bulbs to amber LEDs and set them as such with JScan before using them as DRLs.

I am already aware of them being two separate bulbs and I know I'm going to switch them to LED I already have led DRL bulbs what I'm trying to figure out is how to get them the turn signals that is to burn as DRL and burn White and also come on Amber when the turn signal is on. I know if just put the switchback in it will flash white and Amber. I want it to go to white when activate the turns as DRL and I also want my current DRLs to burn as well. Hopefully that explained my situation.

Ok, I see what you are looking to do. I think you will need to change the socket in the turn signal as it is for a single element bulb and for the switchback bulbs you need a dual element socket. Reach out to user Shane h on the JL forum he was trying to do the same thing and I sent him a set of sockets to use.

I'm pretty sure your right. That was what my fear was. I think I will just order a amber Led bulb and see if I can get it to burn as a DRL and just burn amber. I would be happy with that. Would look really good at night and would probably provide a little more visibility in the rain

Actually after taking another look up close at the housing I think the bulb is clear and the inside housing on mine is yellow to produce the amber turn signal. I'm going to pull the bulb when I get home and confirm or if someone knows the answer, confirm and I'll just pick up the same bulb I have for the DRL for the turn signal on my way home.

After reading about it some I'm not sure if it's doable if already have a DRL. That kinda sucks but it is what it is. I'll grab a amber Led bulb from AutoZone and grow it in the turn signal housing to complete the front led transformation then.

I assume that it's a 7443 amber bulb just like the 7443 white bulb I used for DRL. If I'm wrong let me know, I'm buying it on my way home me from work

I think it can be done with some wire splicing but with the price of OEM LED’s in the Member Marketplace that’s what I went with.
