My subject line might be stated incorrectly. But curious, today is the first time in many months that I’ve hooked my Gladiator up to the Jscan. I was reading for misfires, and it seems way less than normal. Normally, I have many misfires of cylinder three in today none. I’ll post two examples. The most recent one is half the mileagedriven but still if you double the misfires it’s still less than normal.

could there have been some sort of over thr air update On how misfires are tracked.

Only other differences today was hot as hell and 92°. Is it common for vehicles to misfire less in the heat?

approximately 2000 miles on odo and a much cooler day. Approximately 15 miles driven.

Today. 8 mile drive. Same route as other example. Just the last half. All city-ish driving. 92°.

No change and no, they never ever do OTA updates to any systems other than the radio. they can't.

It's not abnormal to have low misfire counts.

How many miles has it got on it?
It's possible it finally learned and adjusted for things like CCDIFF (cam/crank difference, the relationship of crankshaft to camshaft)
There's a lot of reasons, even better gas can play into things.

You left out a lot of information - like number of miles when you first checked misfires vs the number of miles on it now and so on. Was it winter or early spring when you had a lot of misfires? It's more common starting a cold engine, and winter gas isn't that great.....

People Work?
If you've had the vehicle in for service between then and now, and there was a TSB flash available for it, they would've have applied it while they had it. It would be noted as such on your service report.
Otherwise, no. They don't do OTA updates, as the cat in the hat has already mentioned.

Yours is a 21, his is a 22. Mine is a 22 - no flash for misfires unless customer complains. Anything else would be a RRT.
So unless there's an RRT for 2022 I'm not aware of, there's nothing they'd do automatically, and it would show up on his invoices.

Thanks; didn't have that info; however, I'm friends with each tech at the dealer and Nick brought up the flash while he was replacing the radio (under warranty). You were in the industry so you know how a little appreciation to the techs goes a long way.

most of it’s posted above

Was early Spring with 2k miles and I’d get more misfires. Never a cel. But cyliner 3 would be way more. The first pic temp was 50 degrees, light rain, and 2k miles on odo.
today was Summer hot, 92 degrees. 7400 miles, dry. very very few misfire. Which Is nice.

all my services they insured be my car was due for no reflashes.

2022, as far as I know, had no RTT or recall for flash and the flash I got was only because of my misfire under hot then shutdown conditions. Technically a flash wasn't needed to fix the issue - force crank/cam relearn would fix the issue in a case like mine.
One wonders if with only 2,000 miles if it finally got learned or broke in.
On the other hand - 14 misfires? That's nuttin...........

Tested again today, my normal 12 mile ride home and not a single misfire. Anyone else actually shows zero misfires on similar drives?
