Received my titanium jtop just in time for Christmas. We are sunny and 80 degrees in south Louisiana today so I installed the shade. My issue is that the shade is stretched so tight when installed that only one of the three cross bars nests into the notch of the roll bar. It is impossible to get more then one bar in the notch. I have installed from the front to the back, removed and tried from the back to the front. I have tried with leaving all buckles loose then tighten and I have tried to tighten each buckle one by one as I install. It is sunny today so maybe the sun will help give me a little extra stretch. I don’t know if this is normal and the top will stretch a bit over time or if this is a manufacturer issue.

Post some photos so we can see what you’re doing. Mine went one without a hitch. One of the crossbars is really close, but they all fit.

I just put the hard top back on for an evening trip. I did grab three pictures earlier of the bars and the notch that corespondent with it. So far the best fit for me is to force the rear cross bar into place. The rear bar is easier to keep in the notch because of the way the rear roll bar curves it sort of catches the bar. The pictures I have are of the rear bar holding in place and the other two bars pulling backwards due to the strain. First pic is rear bar, second pic is if the front bar being pulled and rolled out of its notch. Last pic is the center bar which is pulled completely out of its notch.

The sunshine did not add any extra stretch. If the top had about a quarter inch of extra length I would be good or maybe one of the bars is attached to the mesh a little bit off of spec. The top is supper tight and made it a fight to get the freedom panels latched in the corner without a cut out.

Weird. I thought you’d get a little help from the sun. When I put mine on, I just kinda set it all in place loosely and then tightened it down. If you can’t do that, you may need to exchange it for another one.

Mine was the same way. I started from the front and worked my way back and that helped and I was able to get all the cross rails in.

So I first tucked the front flap in, then did the first cross bar back to the sound bar and got those tight. Then I moved backwards from there.

I had sent an email to their support this afternoon not expecting a response until next week. However, they responded and they feel like it is a sewing error and will ship another out. Thanks guys. Wanted to make sure I was just not understanding the top. Very nice top outside of the fitment.

Hm, maybe I should reach out as well. The other thing that got me was the buckle on the second set of straps from the front doesn’t lay flat against the roll bar like all the others. It sticks out at an angle from the top edge.

I had a buckle or two that was not perfect but it not seem to be in a spot that would scratch. They are a responsive company. It did take a month and half for shipping but that’s the breaks nowadays with inventory and logistics.

This is Mike from JTops. Did this get resolved. The rods should drop in with just a bit of a tug. It is vert possible that the top that was shipped was for a JL 2 Door. They are almost identical except for the rod spacing.
We will always make things right!

Resolved. I shipped back the original and I’m awaiting a new one. The first top took roughly six weeks from ordering to arrive. Figure I’m about three weeks into the wait for a replacement.

Yes we have about 6 replacement orders that should ship between now and Friday. I’ll watch for it and make sure it gets out. Mike

Received the replacement top. Still a very tight fit but all three support bars are able to fit into the roll bar notches where as the first top the support bars could not all fit in the notches. Support bars are pretty stressed and nearly pulling out of the notches on the replacement top. However I think the tightness is better then a loose top that would be prone to flapping in the wind.

This is Mike with JTops. I should be tight and needs a little time to stretch. If we made it looser it would not perform well down the line. Send me some pics to make sure it’s right. Want you to be happy at any cost!
