Ive got the Metal Cloak Game Changer 3.5 lift on my JTRD, paired them with the rocksport shocks. I am running 37" Ridge Grapplers. Ive got a replacement front bumper and front skid plate from JCR as well as their classic sliders, so I have added a good amount of weight to the truck. I havent been offroad yet, and if and when I do, its going to be easy stuff.

The truck handles OK, but but over speed bumps and humps the suspension feels awkward. I dont bottom out, but I dont feel like i am getting smooth dampening in those situations. i also have a JKUR at stock hight, but the fox 2.0 shocks and love the way it rides.

So I am wondering if anyone with a similar set up can chime in with experiences on which shocks they paired with this lift and how they like it.

I'm interested in running this lift and will also have a good amount of additional weight. Can you elaborate on what you mean by the suspension feels awkward and the damping is not smooth? Do you get a lot of bouncing after hitting a bump?

its hard to explain. main thing is that it does not feel smooth as the suspension compresses and decompresses over a speed hump. I guess it feels harsh.

I did also decide to contact metal cloak for their opinion and after a few questions, the guy told me he did some math and thinks my tires are overinflated. I have them at about 33 psi, but he said based on the math (looking at the weight if my truck and the volume of air in my tiers, i should be at about 21 psi which he admitted sounded too low. So i am going to experiment with lower psi to see how that helps. I may also then try the fox 2.0 shocks, because i really like them on my jkur and the metal cloak guy said he has talked to people who are happy with them on this lift.

Can you keep us updated on this? I am looking at this lift or Claytons. I have also heard the MC springs have trouble with the weight of the diesel so this just may help make my decision.

When I first did a Mc 3.5” on my ‘17 jkur I had the rocksports. I had 35” e rated ridge grapplers with it… after 4 months, I ditched the rocksports for falcon 3.3’s. Changing shocks was an amazing uograde. I also set my psi in my tires around 28-30 cold.
When I bought my JT, I put exactly the same setup on and she rides really nice with 37” ridge grappler 37’s at 28-30 cold psi.
Here’s my opinion on shocks. The rocksports are just like a basic Rancho mono shock, steel tubes but extended length. They are okay. Stepping up to an aluminum body will give you less fade ie fox 2.0s. The 2.0’s will give you a firmer sportier ride but really handle the bigger bumps… but a resi shock will give you way less fade and then you can add in adjusters to control/set the ride. The bigger the shock body, the more fluid and better valving. I got a chance to ride in a JLu with fox 2.5’s and a JT with fox 3.0’s… omg… they are upgrades from my falcon 3.3 sp2’s in the 2.25” flavor. And I have a buddy with king resi’s with adjusters and they are nice. Honestly it’s about how much better ride you want. I find my falcons are a middle ground to the shock world and I love them but I know there’s better and have been through a lot worse.

if you get a chance, find someone’s ride that has shocks that your looking at and go for a ride.

also in my opinion… anything taller than 3” of lift on jeeps need a high steer kit to keep the bump steer away.
I hope this helps.
