So my wife got me some Oracle pre runners and I got it mostly setup last night.

I was getting ready to tap into the headlight wire when I came across this.

I’m a little confused as to why you couldn’t tap into the white/yellow drl.
Because they flip.

I’m assuming the halos are drls which look like they are on well all the time.
white w yellow stripes gets them on with DRL, but now off when I have headlights on
can’t tap into the light harness if you want them on with ignition, I.e. not just with DRL OR headlights, but all the time
They aren't. At least not from a harness perspective. Either "Front Park Lamp" or "DRL Lamp" will be on, but not both at the same time.

if I tie into white brown I understand they would only be on when the headlights are on. Can anyone help me understand what I’m missing?
Ultimately, the short answer is: "it depends". If you want it to match what either the DRL or parking lamps are doing, that's what you'd get. But if you want them on "all the time", you need to do one of two things:

* Find a different ignition-on source
* Tap into both leads and splice them together to power your lights

I ran into a similar issue when I was trying to find a source for the backlights on my fogs/chase lights. I wanted them to be "like" DRLs, but then realized they turned off when the headlights came on (which defeated a lot of the purpose as they are most visible at night).

I opted for the second approach. They get power when either the DRL or parking lamps are on, which basically covers everything (except when you park and pulling the parking brake, because that kills both anyways).
