It has the same options, but doesn’t allow them to be used. We’ve had two Chevy Volts over the years that required the engine to be run at least once per year, or briefly if it was so cold that it was necessary for more efficient cabin heat. Other than below zero temps, I never once had them force me to not use electric.
Yeah, that seems a little strange, and I don't understand their logic.

I've got both a 2021 Gladiator Sport and 2021 4xe sahara. The 4xe is the wife's daily driver, but when we're together we always take her 4xe for short trips.

Looking for real world experiences, first hand, not "I heard" or "it looks like. It's fast as hell, we have the sahara so leave it in full time 4x4 auto, which unlocks additional power and makes it just stupid fast for a jeep. I love switching modes and sometimes recharging on long highway drives to have electric when we get into town. Mileage is much worse in winter (-30%).

Reliability? Have only done the recalls, but never actually experienced any of the recall problems. Do get the fuel refresh message which locks out use of electric mode, but that's actually a feature and I traced that to the use of e88 fuel. Now we just use midgrade in the winter, no problems since.

Real-world fuel economy?
100% dependent on the length of your trip and how you manage your modes. Long story short,
-leave it in hybrid and take less than 30 mile trips. 40mpg,
-leave it in electric and take less than 20 mile trips. 100mpg
-any mode and drive until you empty the tank. 21mpg
My actual mileages are attached. You can see those 100+ were probably times in the summer where we went a month all on electric, those 20+ times were probably a long trip to the shore with only one electric charge or less. So, if you never charge, expect to be in the 21-23 range, if you

Battery life? Summer 20miles. winter 15 miles.

How far can travel on tank of fuel? depends, each of those calculated mileages I attached was one tank or gas, probably filled up when the light came on. With no charge probably 250-300 miles depending on driving type.

It’s not logic. They’re trying to claim fuel and oil refresh is the reason. We drive ours 70 miles on the interstate, and when we got off the exit, electric not available. They’ve got a flawed system and they don’t want to fix it. It cost us thousands to sell ours back at a loss.

So these are not temperature controlled? They should have been made so that even in cold weather, the cooling/heating system would warm them to proper temperature to make them useful. Even if even lower range due to temperature... but still functional.

Yes all of Brads videos are great. Seems like he’s owned every Jeep there is.
I recall Brad liked the 4XE overall. Unfortunately, every time he took it out, the dash would light up like a pinball machine and the drive train wouldn't work properly. He takes his Jeeps to very remote areas and he needs reliability. Since he didn't get the impression his 4XE was reliable, he got rid of it. His particular 4XE may have been a lemon. I wouldn't know since I don't own one.

I don't either, and the off-road EV range is less than on-road as might be expected.

Well, perhaps the lawsuit will be effective for those coming behind.

The fact that it might take a lawsuit for Jeep to fix this isn’t ok though. I’m not a litigious person, and have never sued anyone, but this is legit.

I agree, but I think the corporate perspective of Toyota has changed in the last decade sorry to say.

I’ve owned one used Toyota in the past, and it was solid. But I tend to agree. It seems they’ve decided they have an in-demand brand, so they aren’t trying as much anymore. Maybe not, but it’s my impression.

Yes, I wasn’t aware of the 3500 max tow. I was surprised to find out that even the 392 is rated at 3500. I guess wheel base has something to do with it? I never really understood the logic behind the formula used for determining max tow. Funny thing is the 4xe is 3500 here and 5000lbs in Europe.
I Have a 4XE Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4XE and I like it. Traded in the Sahara High Altitude 3.6l. If you want message me back and I can tell you how that one works as it is the exact same setup in the Wrangler 4XE the differences being in the ride, and few extra miles from aerodynamics but the towing is a lot more. I have a 6000lbs tow rating. The biggest factor in towing isn’t the motor but the wheelbase. If you tow 3500 lbs in a Wrangler and use all the necessary tow stuff you are limited by speed due to the nature of hitch towing (lots of videos on YouTube). The longer the wheelbase the easier it is to tow which is why the Gladiator tows so much better and with a higher rating. The ram 1500 tows better than the Gladiator with the same engine as well. I used to HOTSHOT so I can say with experience towing is not about how much you can pull as it is about how safely can you pull, stop, maneuver, and ride.

One of the primary reasons I shifted from the five Tacomas I've owned, the last a TRDPro with three recalls, to the Gladiator, and glad I did. It's far and away a better off-road vehicle than the Tacoma. Toyota could improve the Tacoma, but if you look at the sales numbers they don't need to. I imagine that may change in the future. You can see all the former Tacoma owners in this forum, and that's just us noisy guys, not necessarily the majority.

The new body style alone should make people run. It’s hideous.
