Greetings guys, I'm new to Jeep.

I've had my 2021 High Altitude for a few months and have close to 3k miles. No modifications other than a Falcon 2.2 steering stabilizer. The steering is a bit loose, but not bad. Just picked up a new noise on bumpy roads.

So I got under the truck and started to check bolts and nuts. Both the upper knuckle nuts were very loose, I tighten them to 41 ft lb. However the, I believe its called the "drag link". still moves about 1/8 in up and down.

Is this movement normal? Could be be my thumping noise?

Thanks.

I think some clarification might help with replies here. Which of the nuts was lose and which still moves? The knuckle usually refers to ball joint . The upper ball joint is visible in your pic as well as part of your tie rod end on lower left. The drag link (Main part in focus) connecting your passenger knuckle to the pitman arm on your steering box. That joint shouldn't have play laterally but a minor amount of vertical is "ok". I take it the noise hasn't gone away with tightening to mfg specs? Did you check the part number on your steering box to the new TSB box?

The nuts that were loose are the two left and right at the top knuckles, (21 mm) like what you see in the pic. What moves 1/8 in up and down is the drag link bar. I drove it around and did not hear anything, so keeping my fingers crossed. It did not do it all the time either...

Don’t touch a thing. Take it straight to your dealer. If you touch it, coood become your fault. There could be some movement, but should be zero movement up and down. In other words, the movement should not be up and down in line with the bolt.
