So, got my Rubi's bed spray lined today.
Had a long talk with the manager, telling him the issues that have come up when doing the Gladiator. He reassured me he had down several already and he knew what to do.
Evidently not. But the Tech was smart enough to stop because he knew something wasn't right.
They took the panels off the tail gate and sprayed them separate. They masked off the bed lights. The drivers side front tie down looks tight and in good shape.
Passengers side tie down has half the threads showing on the bolt and appears cross threaded.
I back it out at home, there's a glob of bed liner on the rounded nose. Went to Lowe's, bought an M8 x 1.25 tap and go home and run it in. Half way in on tap, it comes to a stop.
Back it all the way out, get some metal shavings and some liner. Run it back in, hit the stop a little farther in, so start doing in and out just a little at a time. Finally get the tap to bottom out. Run it back a little with ratchet, then rest of the way out by hand.
Screwed tie down in and almost bury it by hand, tightened it nicely with Torx bit and socket.
So, dodged my second bullet on this Jeep.
Thank you to everyone with the little bits of info that made this a stress free fix.
