Has anyone used these tires, specifically in snowy conditions. They are a great price point and the only 40 offered in 3PMSF. I have a set of BajaBoss MTs so I’m not concerned with how they perform off-road but I need a dedicated winter tire. The photos show very little siping for a 3PMSF tire which is concerning.

Looking back I should’ve kept my 39 ko2 but too late for that and I’m not interested in spending $650/tire just for winter road use.

Ran a set of these in 35" for two winter seasons in my 2020 Gladiator. Had no complaints of performance driving up here in the Northeast to include the mountains of PA and NY in the winter. They are advertised at a 40K mile rated tire but I would say it is closer to a 30K mile tire from my experience.

Awesome! Thank you. At the price point, I’m much less concerned about how many miles I’ll get out of them than if they will perform well in the snow.

From what I gathered the M/T-02's are no longer offered in the 40's. There are still sets available for purchase but the have discontinued the 40's for some reason. I was going to move from the 38's into the 40's but decided to get a new set of the 38's until I figure out what 40's I want to go to now.

The set of 38's I ran did just fine in the snow. I put put 30'000 miles on them and rotated them every 3,000 miles. They still have a good amount of tread on them I just didn't want to run them on long trips to Minnesota this winter.

Thanks for the input but I’m looking at the XT. It’s their At 3PMSF tire. I have heard the mt-02 does well in the snow for a MT tire but from what I’ve seen, they wear quickly and unevenly.
If you’re looking for a 40 MT I’d highly recommend the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss

Sorry. Looks like I need to read the titles a little gooder lol. I have looked at the XT's but having a hard time switching back to an AT after moving to the MT's.

no problem! I do the same thing. I’ll be keeping my MT on beadlocks. The XT will be my winter tire and I might even run it in the summer months between offroading trips. It’s much cheaper to replace and also quieter on the road. Not thrilled about it but I need a better tire for the winter where I live.

I bit the bullet on the the Patagonia XTs. In typical Patagonia fashion, the tire is rounded and does not have full tread contact. I haven't played with different pressures yet, but I have a feeling you'd be well below road driving psi to get full contact.

Initial impressions: It's incredibly quiet and smooth and did very well in the packed snow road that I drove. I was initial concerned about the lack of siping but the tire performed very well in 2wd and stopped on a steep, packed snow grade with out sliding. A friend got stuck yesterday in an unplowed dirt lot with a decent amount of snow and I pulled him out with no issues. He was on 35 k02s....

Personally, I don't care for the look of the tire. They are not aggressive looking at all and the rounded shape is odd to me. But for a "budget friendly" winter tire I think it's a great option. It's also the only 40" that is 3PMSF rated. If anyone is interested in this tire, I can update again when I get some more snow miles in.

I defiantly will, I could not find the XT in 38s. My MTs are pretty much new it will be a little bit.
I did a lot of tire research. I wish more companies would make 38s. Falken is making their R/T hybrid in a 38. Can't vogue for that specific tire but Falken products are typically of good quality.

XTs are listed on the site but no one has them in stock. maybe they are just adding it to production and has not hit the market yet. I will probably run Milestar for awhile as my jeep is not my DD and the price point is great.

That makes sense. My shop was able to get a set of 40x13.5r17 in less than a week.
