November 2021:

This was a pretty major upgrade, a set of Mojave take off shocks! Found someone local who had removed the set from his truck, less than 500 miles on them. Also included with the sale were the other bits and pieces of the kit like the skid plate and matching springs. I threw these things on quick at both my house and my uncles shop. Huge improvement in ride quality instantly!

Took care of the skid plate first. Since it was just a few bolts.

My Rivnut tool made this job easy. Also behold my mastery of rattle can Rustoleum paint repair on display.

I regret to inform ya'll that I can't find any pictures of my new to me Mojave shocks, so ya'll are going to get the reference photos I took of a truck at the dealer. ?

January 2022

After a nice holiday with the family, I decided what better way to kick off the new year than with my first big 4 wheeling trip!

Up until this point, any dirt that I had hit was basically in my back yard. It was time to get serious, so I went with my aunt and uncle (in a new Mojave!) and (a lot of!) his friends out to Hatch, New Mexico to go 4 wheeling in the mountains.

It was an absolute blast! So many views, absolutely perfect weather. And the first time the JT really got to stretch her legs.

Started right away in some foothills.

Which lead us through a some boulder fields. I skipped some of the more intense rock gardens this time after I got the lower control arm hooked on one of these rocks. Need to add some LCA skids.

Which then lead on to some arroyos. Learned the importance of a disconnecting sway bar that day.

Miss Red performed flawlessly, despite some of my more "questionable" lines. Not bad considering that I was a pretty novice off-roader at this point. Which was good, because I didn't want to end up the center of attention like this Taco.

Ground gave out and slid into the ravine. Luckily there was a JK behind them that pulled them out no sweat.

We continued on until we reached out destination, a view from the top of the mountains. You can see our whole group here.

And back in town less than 20 minutes later.

Had one of the best burgers in my life at Sparky's.

Despite the look on my face here it was one of the most fun days I've had (I was VERY tired!)

Here's to more adventure!
