Missing Surround sound option

I was looking at the manual and it says that in the sound setting there should be an option for surround sound. When I am using XM, or FM, I dont see the surround sound option.

Should that be the case? I have the premium sound option.

It has been a while since I was in the A/V industry, but I would doubt that songs are encoded for surround. While audio for video is encoded multichannel , music is typically only coded for left and right.

I was referring to the option that shows on the owners manual but seems to be missing from the option menu.

I don’t have surround sound option that while listening to XM or FM. Haven’t tried any other form of source yet.

I was only trying to say that it might not show up for that option because most music is not coded to be surround capable and XM and FM probably don't have the capability. There are streaming options that do it. My truck hasn't been delivered yet so I have no actual experience with this radio yet. Hopefully someone else that is more of an audiophile will reply with a better answer for you but I did see this on a search:
