I thought this would be easiest install I could possibly attempt. A few screws and I’m good right?

short story is all the holes are visible but there is what I’d call overspray that is impeding the screws ability to cleanly thread to secure the bed rails.

how the heck do I remove just enough material to get the screws to thread?

Tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated!!!

Oh wait, you're talking the threaded holes in the bed.

You'll need a thread chaser or a tap, 6mm. Slowly work in and out, clean it off often. Don't go fast, don't force it.

That makes sense with the tap. Going to be a pain but likely the right call.
