I'm about to install the Mopar Aux Switch bank and had a question about the 4 wires on the cabin side of the Aux Switch bank wiring harness. Are the 4 wires on the cabin side independent from the ones in the engine compartment or is it one for one swap? The reason I ask if I use the cabin wires to power my dual band or CB radio does that count for an Aux connections? Or does it save the hassle of running the radio power wire through the fire wall and directly to the battery? which is what I'm hoping the answer is.

On mine, I have the factory switch panel. The wires in the cab are duplicates of the wires in the engine bay, and IIRC, inside cabin you have the extra ACC and BATT wires (under hood = 4 wires, in cab = 6 wires). I used the BATT wire (always on) for my commo power, just in case the radio is needed when key isn't accessible to turn on ACC.

There are two wires for each Aux Switch. One is in the cabin and one is under the hood. When you turn the switch on, both wires are hot. The end of each wire should have a rubber insulator on it. You can use one of the inside wires for a radio, but that Aux Switch will then control power to the radio. The two hot wires mentioned are only there for factory installed Aux Switches. If you want the radio to be available to power up at any time, run a separate wire through the firewall to power it. If you have the Auto Transmission, there is a hole with a round plug where the clutch link would be.

Only factory, user-installed is lacking those 2 extra wires.

Seems to me there's a circuit available that will automatically cut power after a certain time.............. I'll have to dig into that again. It uses a trigger wire connected to ign, but feeds from the battery and can be set to shut off the battery feed after so many minutes of no ign feed.
OR
you can feed it from the battery through a heavy relay that is turned on when the ignition is on.
OR
a person can get creative in other ways............
