Quick question to all. Going to give this a go again with the inserts. Did you have to remove all the wiring to the camera prior to removing the insert? Does the wiring clips hold it down at all?

There is a hose to the squirted and a harness connector to the camera. Once those are unclipped the camera should come off with the whole grill.

Was able to get it done! A little easier to get the clips done after I saw a video on it. Have quarantine time on my hands. Haha. Thanks for all the help guys. Usually I don’t have issues doing this kind of stuff. Lol

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but since we are talking grills with cameras...

When you next remove your grill, can anyone take photos of the camera wire harnes where it connects to the camera and then trace it as far as they can, and then also provide a photo?

TiA!

So I am about to do this tomorrow, I have read through this page and just want to verify one thing... pretty much the only thing I have to transfer over is the center mesh piece correct? As I understand from reading it looks like the camera is mounted to the center mesh piece, so it is as simple as switching those panels and reconnecting the hose and plug. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance. (For what its worth, there does not seem to be any videos on this on Youtube...)

Correct. You just need to swap out the center piece. Seemed difficult at first and you sometimes feel like you’re going to snap the tabs but they are good.

So, I have a black satin grille from a JL. I have a Mojave with the front camera. The JL grille does not have the screw receptacles for the camera. Did some previously indicate they were able to move over the screw receptacles to a JL satin grille? @wes3356?

@wes3356 Are you indicating this part with the screw receptacles can be removed? It appears to glued in or something.

And by “this part” I mean the black inset thing with the silver screw holes. Thanks and sorry for being so needy @wes3356
I used a screwdriver to pry out the metal receiver part where the camera mounts to. They were easy to pop out with a screwdriver and then insert them in the satin grille.
