MOPAR VS IRON ROCK LIFT

Been wanting to purchase the MOPAR lift for a while.

But its a bit difficult to pull the trigger on a $1,200 kit, plus adjustable track bar, plus geometry correction brackets, plus rear track bar relocation bracket, plus a leveling kit, plus drag link actuator, plus steering stabilizer. Then Wheels and tires. That will put me over 2k and I still need to pay someone to install it cause I don't have the facilities to do it myself.

On the flip side, I could add an Iron Rock 2 inch lift which its brackets and spacers. Maybe an adjustable track bar. Everything for less than $500 and I can do the work myself.

I don't do heavy rock crawling. Just trails for camping with the family and some flooded swamps out in the everglades. Would like to keep the feel and ride the way it is as this is my daily.

Anyone has had experience with these lifts that can give some guidance.

Mine is a stock Rubicon so far.

You're looking at 2 very different lift kits, can't compare prices so easily. The Mopar lift gets you new springs and fox ahocks the other is a spacer lift. Both will need the adjustable track bar and rear relocation brackets, you probably need to add new lower control arms to the spacer lift to even make them anywhere near similar.

Your rubicon won't get a ton of lift from the Mopar kit but it is still a complete kit and, imo, a better dire tion

Yeah, spend your money elsewhere. I think the Mopar kit was a good option when it first came out but there are better ones out there now, but you are right you will end up spending more money to address all the unresolved issues with the Mopar kit.

The Iron Rock is a spacer lift and should not change driveline geometry. Can't say for certain but I'm waiting for an AEV spacer lift which appears to be on perpetual back order. I'm still trying to eventually decide on a long-arm full suspension kit and a spacer is a cheap alternative until you decide.

Yeah, spend your money elsewhere. I think the Mopar kit was a good option when it first came out but there are better ones out there now, but you are right you will end up spending more money to address all the unresolved issues with the Mopar kit.

The Iron Rock is a spacer lift and should not change driveline geometry. Can't say for certain but I'm waiting for an AEV spacer lift which appears to be on perpetual back order. I'm still trying to eventually decide on a long-arm full suspension kit and a spacer is a cheap alternative until you decide.

I did a Teraflex 6 inch long arm on my JK. Then it turned into a money pit and never rode nice again. I was a Dutch boy trying to plug all the problems it caused. Dont want the same thing again. The Gladi rides super nice and I'd like to keep it that way. Just want a little more space underneath without having to change anything. Like AEV products. Had their bumpers on the same JK. But they just continue to postpone their delivery dates on the JT and it seems like they have lost their taste for supporting Jeep after their fallout with Chrysler. Wish they would just go back to releasing all their products on schedule. Because the spacer and suspension they promised last SEMA sounded perfect.

Yeah I’m with you. That’s why I’m trying to just use a spacer for now.

Yeah I’m with you. That’s why I’m trying to just use a spacer for now.

Just looked at the AEV set up. Its more comple than the Iron Rock. With the Sway Bar End Links, bumpstops and programmer it makes it worth the difference in price. It says it has a September 24 ship date. Might wait around and see if thats accurate. If they are, I prefer that choice. Plus an adjustable adjustable track bar and steering stabilizer, and I should be golden. Put my old Jk Pintlers with some 37 meat and I'm set.

Any time you lift the body relative to the axles there will be driveline changes - whether you do it with new springs or spring spacers is irrelevant. If you lift 2" with springs and need new LCAs and a track bar, you will need the same with spacers

Lol, Dutch boy. Yup BTDT when I did tons full width SOA on my CJ. What a damn nightmare.

Lol, Dutch boy. Yup BTDT when I did tons full width SOA on my CJ. What a damn nightmare.

plug one hole and another 3 appear. It took the pleasure out of the project and the money out of my pockets. Not Teraflexs' problem. The kit was quality and complete. But boy was it a high maintenance upgrade. Including the shop who they suggested I use not welding one of the brackets correctly and me using one of the control arms as a catapult. On a a turn!!! With my 3 year old at the time in the back seat. Yeah. Good times. Should have gone with a regular lift and been happier. You live and you learn. Thats why I'm hesitant to ruin the ride on the JT this time around. Smoothest Jeep I've ever owned

Just purchased the AEV kit plus the adjustable track bar from Rubitrux in North Carolina. I've dealt with before. Great shop. Should be here on Wednesday. Ill let you know how it went after I install it.

You can install a MOPAR lift kit yourself. Jack, jack stands, a set of metric wrenches, shallow and deep sockets, ratchet, breaker bar, and a weekend. You can borrow a torque wrench that goes to 250 ft lbs and spring compressors from any auto store (for free upon return). You don’t need a leveling kit unless you just hate the factory rake. I found it to be less noticeable after MOPAR kit install. As far as other geometry-related stuff, MOPAR kit comes with struts, springs, lower control arms, F&R stabilizer bar endlinks, and front spring seats. You don’t nesessarily NEED anything else. Steersmarts sells a Neutral stabilizer for $85 if you really feel you need that after driving a while. Front and rear adjustable track bar can be gotten for <$500 for both (Which I *would* recommend)

I installed mine by myself. Just take your time!

Sounds good, my local installer called me to setup time and I should have mine put on by the end of the month too (AEV).

AEV Spacer lift Installed,
Took a while but......2020. (nuf said)

Alongside Synergy's adjustable track bar and Fox steering stabilizer.
Steering is more precise now on curves. I appreciate the Fox being on the stiffer side.

Now I need to fill those wells.
Borahs and 37's Nittos would do the trick.
...and gears.
