I am looking to declutter the dash of my gladiator and would like to plug my USB for iPhone behind the dash. Anyone done this to split the USB to use Apple Car Play? If so, how?
Subb'd. Would be pretty slick to re-route it while leveraging a fixed mounting solution. Huge pro-clip fan but their base (for the gladiator anyhow) seems obnoxiously placed. This seems pretty solid, could extend via 90° adapter and extension cable fished down the passenger side up through and out of that passenger knee panel.
I had to have my iPhone's charge port replaced. The tech said allowing it to bounce around in my pass seat while plugged in (as you know, necessary for CarPlay) greatly reduces the life of the port but if I keep it in that little rectangle slot between the cup-holders and hit a bump, anything from Siri activating to it locking itself is possible.
Not behind dash, but I bought a USB-C 3' cable, with short 90 degree ends. I bought some round, black rubber cable clips and put a single one on the side to hold the cable in place and then tucked the extra cord in the passenger side of the console panel and left just enough exposed to come up and allow me to plug in my Google Pixel and put it right in the slot between the floor console and dash console. I'll try and add a pic later.
Thanks - I just do not want any cables showing in front of the dash. I may take the dash apart to see what I can do. . I'm an IT guy so should be doable I just did not want to recreate the wheel if someone has done this already.
