Sitting at 31PSI, would you drop more? The front footprint is better (thanks, heavy ass diesel).

Most passenger car tires are flat and chalk works good. Some off road tires are manufactured to have a crown and chalk isn't as helpful. I don't know about your Mickie's. A heavy ass diesel I don't think I would go any lower on the hwy. What do I know, I have a gasser. Good looking tires by the way!

Maybe not related but I’ve been running my 315/70 BFG K02 ATs at 31 front and 30 rear. I got similar results - outer tread showing chalk wear, but definitely more remaining than center-to-mid tread. I for sure thought the results would show my PSI too low.

The chalk test is good in some situations, but not all situations. Example is putting wider tires then recommend on narrow rims, the footprint is different than the footprint on wider rims at the same psi. The chalk test is valuable information but that's all it is. I love the chalk test but there's more to take in consideration then what your maximum footprint is.

I appreciate the information, and that makes a lot of sense. I’m moving from the stock 7.5 wide to 9” rims tomorrow so hopefully that will improve the footprint at correct psi.

I usually go with 27-28psi cold, warms to 30-31. You will be fine. Any higher and I lose enough contact with the outside blocks that it's like ice skating on what little contact patch is left from the middle treads.

Imagine trying to run the truck on 6" wide tires that have a blocky tread so not even great contact patch. That's what happens if you overinflate tires like those and lose the outside blocks.

Run them lower imo.

When I went from 7.5 to 9 it helped a smidge, but not much and that's not really why you want wider rims with wider tires. The tire will seat properly inside the lip with wider rims, too narrow a rim and it gets angled and not seated well.

Ok then that makes sense why you are looking at a little higher than me. I think you are totally fine with that pressure, if you find yourself skating a bit go a bit lower when cold.
