Sounds about right. More homework time. If you can post whatever you find out on the travel length. Very interested……..

Well without actually talking to EVO and just looking at their website gets me this

Jeep Gladiator My Build: 2023 Jeep Rubicon Gladiator on 40's 1717695768021-31

This PIC from EVO's website can see the front shock tilted back at an angle and using the factory coil bucket as a reference being the factory coil spring is approx 5" OD. The factory location would be just outside the bucket and here probably about 6" or so away.

And from the specs of a King Coilover 2.5"x12" shock shows the following (taken from the Accu-Tune website):

Product Brand: King
Product Body Diameter: 2.5
Product Piston Rod Diameter: 7/8"
Product Series: Performance Race
Product Travel: 12"
Product Adjuster: Internal Bypass
Product Disk Swapping: Yes
Product Spring Swapping: Yes
Product Collapsed Length: 20.65"
Product Extended Length: 32.65"
Product Mounting Size: 1/2 x 1.50

Now using some simple Trig to get triangulation data (Honestly just grab a triangle calculator on the web, www.calculator.net/triangle-calculator.html) gives you something like this:

Jeep Gladiator My Build: 2023 Jeep Rubicon Gladiator on 40's 1717696475580-z9

Jeep Gladiator My Build: 2023 Jeep Rubicon Gladiator on 40's 1717696526585-42

So based on my calculations to achieve roughly 14" of travel with a 12" shock, using the dimensions of the King 2.5" x 12" coilover shock you would need to place the shock at least 13 inches offset to path of travel.

So, in looking I do not know if the mount is quite getting it 13 or more inches offset from the stock location. I would think the next would be to give EVO a call... But doing the calculations without actually calling them is fun....

I’m actually a Tool and Die maker (43 years now) and I do trig almost every day so I perfectly understand what you’re saying…. Evo is about 15 minutes away from me and Rebel is about 45 minutes away from me. Convenient. I’ve been at Rebel’s shop over 30 times the last couple of years and about every six weeks they have a “”Jeep’s and Java”” at their shop on Saturday morning. There are lots of hard-core vehicles to examine in person. Rebel has been going off Roading with all of their vehicles now for a long time (they have lot’s of video’s of them off roading) and I don’t plan on doing anything as hard-core as them, so if it works for them it’s way more than good enough for me. If you know what I’m saying… lol

Absolutely... I actually live probably around 45 mins from Rebel (lived maybe 3 blocks away from them 15 yrs ago) and around 30 mins to EVO. I live in Eastvale, CA which is next to Corona/Chino. I need to get on that mail list to know their next event as I would love to take a look. Personally I have a 2016 JKUR that I replaced with my 2023 JTDR. I will be selling the 2016 to pay for new toys for my 2016.

I guess as a "Tool and Die" maker you have access to equipment that can pretty much fabricate anything you need. I do have good friend back from my High School days that has a CNC Machine company but I would have to drive all the way to Magic Mountain area to use it.

I like the looks of Rebels with the tubes and also I think their version for bumpstops is far simpler as a bolt on instead of a cut and weld in, but the added travel is tempting. However, until I go long arm I probably will not see it.

Tool & Die…. Yes. But I have limited time per day or per week to work on my projects….. I’m in Hawthorne. Right next to El Segundo and Manhattan Beach. I know exactly where you live, a friend of mine lives over there. Also, the last Friday of the month in Long Beach is a event where there is 75 to 150 jeeps there from all over. From the valley to Riverside to San Diego people come down to Long Beach on the last Friday of the month.

But also lived multiple place in West LA (Palms, Venice, Mar Vista) as well as Van Nuys and Woodland Hills.... Also many locations outside California and even outside USA.

So, actually talked to some people at EVO. From what they tell me their King shock used in their coilover kits is actually a custom length. They tell me that it is over 13" stroke, so with that in mind it would be very easy to get a little bit more travel with having the shocks at an angle to the wheel travel.

Interesting…….
But of course what kind of other portions of the lift will probably play a major factor in it.

Unless you are converting to a Long Arm suspension you would not be able to get the 14"+ travel EVO claims as they recommend limiting straps if you are using the mid-arm suspension. With the straps will probably limit the travel to 12 inches or so thus kind of defeating the ability to have 14 available..

I do find their air bumpstops mounting for the front interesting. They re-use the stock location and actually just cut it down a bit and mount the bump stops in the stock tube. Probably not as strong as the beefy bracket (or pretty looking) that rebel uses but for a bump stop is that heavy duty bracket actually needed.

Awesome build. Looks amazing. I wasn't sure if paint matched was the way to go but this sold me!
Have you had the chance to drive it much? Happy with spring rates and valving so far?
Did Rebel reach out to you to make these adjustments or do they just sell an off-the-rack shock?
For the rear, it looks like you went with EVO's 6.5" coil which I was surprised to read since it looks like there's a very minor reverse rake at the preload you're running on the front. Is that just an optical illusion or did your setup really raise the front that much? Also, did Rebel include that spring or did you assemble this setup yourself?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you! Daily 4 day a week driver. I hit the sand dunes recently one time for a mild test. Don’t want to break an axle way out in the middle of the dunes. Double knee replacement surgery in six weeks and then recovery time and hoping I get to install my new axle’s by the end of the year. Still adjusting the springs here and there. Shocks are not off the shelf, but they were built to my needs by king. Was a 6 month wait. Rebel does not stock them at least for my set up they did not. Some Jeep colors could use the black fenders, but not on red for my set up at least. Wife’s Wrangler is black and white and it’s perfect rather than being all white.

Ooof! 6 months was painful I'm sure.
Both rigs look great.
What axles are you considering?

I figure after my surgery in about six weeks I’ll have plenty of time (3-4 months at least) to do homework on my axles. I’ve already studied three of them pretty well and have not came to any kind of decision yet because all three of them have pros and cons.
