Hi All,

Just got this beautiful machine on 1/30. Couldn't pass on the deals! Traded in my Willys Sport XR (sad to see her go?) and brought this one home! I love how it drives and so glad to be back in a manual vehicle. the Willys sport was auto with 2.0T.

Jeep (rebates team) and dealer didn't honor the 2 bonus cash emails I had as it's not compatible with 15% off MSRP. A bit bummed about that- @JeepCares Can you all confirm if this program doesn't allow other bonus cash programs to combine? thanks.

Couple of questions here:
  1. Start Stop is not working and it shows not ready. No service start stop light or anything. I have driven it for 2-3 hours at a stretch and it never worked. Something dealer missed on PDI but oh well. I am going in to get it fixed and hopefully warranty covers it. Anyone had similar experiences with manuals? from what I gathered from the forum, most likely culprit is Aux battery...?
  2. The two manual transmission related recalls were completed for this one by the dealer. Where can I find the details on how they fixed it and dates? I am planning to ask it to the service department when I go in but was wondering if we can look the details up somewhere.

Don’t know about the start/stop (consider yourself lucky), but the clutch recall will be in your Jeep app under “recalls.” I’ve shown mine below, also completed prior to picking up the vehicle new.

I can sort of answer a couple of those questions:
My '21 6MT typically says start/stop not ready and no reason for it either. Its been that way since I got it (used) in October. In fact, I've only had 2 instances where the start/functioned and at the time the cabin was cool (hvac not having to do anything, sitting in the shade, etc.). My buddy with a 2020 sport 6MT says his very rarely turns off at lights at all. We figured it was a FL humidity and heat thing. So far we haven't seen needs for new batteries but it could be that as at least mine is still original (not sure about his).

As for the two recalls, the 19A requires a clutch assembly change and reflashing a software update to the ECU and instrument cluster.
I believe the 92A required a replacement of the "all gear position sensor" or whatever they are calling it now. The sensor that lets it know which gear the trans is in, if any. Since the selection of the reverse is what makes the reverse camera activate, and federal mandates require a reverse camera, any issue with that switch not activating that camera is cause for a recall.

Get a 10A or so AGM battery charger and look up the procedure for charging each battery independently. They may not be fully charged yet, although with those long drives you'd think so. But supposedly the JT doesn't necessarily charge them all the way.

If this doesn't help then the AUX battery may be bad. What is the date of manufacture for the battery and for the truck itself?

Look in the manual for the break-in procedure. The clutch becomes easier after a bit of break in. And for my truck the engine seemed better at low RPM after 500 miles, and better still after 15,000.

What do you think of the clutch so far?

(And I'm envious of those mountains and forests you have near you.)

I have a 6MT JTR. The stop/start will only turn the engine off when you're at a complete stop, you have the break pedal pressed, the shifter is in neutral and the clutch has been released. Otherwise the engine stays on. I consider this a benefit of the manual because it means that even if I forget to disable auto stop/start it rarely ever activates.

Haha!

Thanks. I got the date from the app. Bot got completed in 13th Nov 2023. Will get more details on the visit to the shop next time. Need to see the parts they replaced.

Thanks for the info! I am not going to use it but just wanted it work and make sure all is well. I never used it in the wrangler as well. I tried stopping clutch in with brakes, coasting in neutral to a light and braking but haven't worked so far.. I am assuming as it sat on dealer lot for long without starting and even test driving as it's a manual, probably battery is bad!

The dealer should be able to provide a copy of the work orider, including part numbers used for the repair.

My white Mojave 6mt says hi.

I love the white on these. I liked anvil and sarge green on wranglers but the white and orange ascents looks cool!

I don't know the date of manufacture. Can we get that information using VIN from somewhere?
I did go up to 70 in the first 500 miles for some time as I was on highways. In Atlanta, people do 80 even in the rightmost lane  but varied rpm after first 300 and did some backroads and a easy trail too.

I am used to the light clutch now. It makes a light thud noise when I change the gear and release clutch.. My Hyundai back in India also does the same at times.. I tried releasing the clutch slow which helps a bit.

I love it altogether! way better responsive than my 2.0 with AT, good gas mileage, nice shifter feel. I wish the second had some more grunt to start it from stop as first is of no use in real world!

Photos are from Tray Mountain road near Helen GA. We have a few good spots to take it out in the wild but not hard trails!

I tried that and it never worked. Yours show stop start ready though on the dash right?
