it should be free! I never use the navi system just my carplay. I am lucky to have a lifetime XM subscription. We just have to pay to have it transferred to another receiver.

I updated my factory nav last year for $99. Mainly because I was going off grid across country. I only used it a couple of times but it was piece of mind in Nebraska , South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho where I had no signal or spotty signal.I’m not sure why anyone with a smart phone would do it. I would never trust a map that’s updated every few months over just asking Siri or opening google which is updated several times per hour. CarPlay rocks. I’ll never drive another car without it.
I had a system update that I had to do before the Nav update. The whole process probably took 90 minutes and it predictably hung for a long time before showing complete. It’s a PIA. Good luck.I actually prefer the factory nav vs Google maps. I like how it tracks your progress on the little bar to the right sideRegardless, I have tried several times to upgrade the nav yesterday with a newly formatted FAT32 32Gig USB. It repeatedly says it can't see the USB/Download Failed. The USB works...it can be seen by my PC, my laptop, and can be used for music. After swapping ports numerous times, it FINALLY starts downloading.
The instructions from the FCA tool show you turn on to ACC after installing the USB, clicking Map Update, and downloading to the USB. Well, it never shows me the "complete" screen. How long does this take? The ACC times out and shuts down, and I'm afraid it's not completing the download! 20 minutes??? Geesh!!
