Need help with changing tire size

2026 Gladiator 85th Anniversary trim. It's not the serious off road machine that most of you guys have, and I won't be going off road much, however being in the WV mountains it will get a lot or snow use.
Stock tires are 245/75 17 'all season' (which means they might be ok for the first 2" of snow). I'm looking for something more aggressive (but not extreme 'block' style). I have to allow for paved road use also as this is my only vehicle.
I'm looking at the Falken Rubitrek AT or Wildpeak AT. My real question is the size. I don't want to void any drive train warranty but would like to go to a 70 series. I'm thinking something between 255/70 to 285/70. Something in this area won't mess up the speedometer enough to worry about, not sure what they will do to the warranty.

I changed from the stock 245/75R17 to 265/70R17. This is probably the tire size that should have been stock. It looks better than stock and it also is an extremely common size, so lots of choices from tire manufacturers.

In snow and ice the first rule in less width means more ground pressure per ci. So the best overall tire for winter driving would be the 245/75-17, Bridgestone Blizzack or Micheline Agilis Cross Country. Or any soft compound sniped snow/ice tires.

As to warranty, if you stay within the various stock sizes offered it would be pretty hard for a dealer to deny a warranty claim because of tire size. Not saying they can't try, but it would be a hard argument to make.
But, as mentioned, generally a wider tire is not an advantage in snow. Generally you want narrow tires for snow.
One things to look for in a tire for snow use is the 3 peak snowflake rating.
An A/T tire with the 3 peak snowflake rating should be fine. There are a ton of 3 peak rated tires in 245/75-17. BFG KO3', Falken Wildpeak AT4W, and Toyo Open Country AT3 would be top of the list. But so many to choose from. Discount Tire list 45 tires in that size with the 3 peak rating

Another thing to consider is if you go with a larger size tire it is very easy to re-program the vehicle for the new tire size. It is even something a dealer can do for you if you don't want to do it yourself. But it is really easy to do, and I would not take it to a dealer for that. Just decide which widget you want to use for that and buy one. Then do it. Cake.
